Review: Having returned to action in July via a highly limited 12-inch single - the pair's first release of any sort since 2020 - Maribou State deliver something far more accessible and significant: a positive and accessible club cut that comes backed with no less than five equally impressive remixes. In its' original mix form, 'Got Me Down' cannily combines cut-up and effects-laden vocal snippets with positive-sounding melodic motifs, stabbing bass and jumpy house-not-house beats. Jason Burns steps up with a 21st century, post-UKG style take, before HxdB re-frame 'Got Me Down' as a dreamy, slow-motion deep house number. Elsewhere, the 'OhMan!' remix is bouncy, raw and bass-heavy, Pale's version is a deep, dreamy, melodious and sub-heavy treat, and the Bondax remix sits somewhere between minimalist two-step and dreamy post-dubstep weightiness.
