Cre8 Dnb Music

Cre8 Dnb Music

With a reputation as one of the most prolific jump up labels around, and curated by DJ and selector extraordinaire Blackley, Cre8 Dnb Music launched in 2015, quickly staking their claim as one of the upcoming labels to watch, and rightly so. Siphoning off some of his infectious, high-octane energy into Cre8, the label’s reputation for hard-hitting, consistent drum & bass output has continued to grow since the release of their very first project, ‘We Cre8 Vol 1’, which featured the close-knit team of the highly popular Cre8 Dnb Radio - Rowney, Blackley, Certified Sickness, Fineprint and Jaxx. Since then, a plethora of varied artists have been on the books, reading as a who’s who of widespread DnB talent: Bou, Simula, Ironlung, Hizzleguy, Dutta, Profile, Skore, L3MMY DUBZ and many more, and that’s without mentioning their pioneering Dub Club subscription service. Don’t expect the Cre8 train to stop anytime soon.

Grotty Funk / Overdrive
Grotty Funk - (4:33) 175 BPM
Overdrive - (4:15) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Everyone's favourite jump-up artist with a 3 in their name returns to Cre8 with two of the most alarming frequency cocktails you ever did hear. 'Grotty Funk' lives up to its name so much it might as well come with a signed pic of your old dear. Snarling, snappy, twisted and bitterly funky, it reinforces the value of the word grot for at least another 20 years. 'Overdrive' is similarly fitting in its weight, style, energy and sense of focus. Gnarly, rampant and stinking to the core, it's a perfect snapshot of where the L3mster is at right now.

Dumbot / Fields Of Blood
Dumbot - (4:08) 175 BPM Hot
Fields Of Blood - (4:31) 175 BPM
Review: After a whole string of sickness on labels such as OYO and Korsakov, man like L3MMY returns to his pals at Cre8 with two heavyweight tear-ups for us all to get choppy and boppy with. 'Dumbot' is anything but dumb... Playing, springy and loaded with a quirky groove that's unlike anything else out there, this will flip the energy and vibe of any dance you have in store. 'Fields Of Blood' ups the ante even further with a powerful euphoric intro before hurtling into one of the most sci-fi themed apocalyptic drops he's ever sculpted. Get Cr8ive.

Dead Out / Neon
Dead Out - (3:42) 175 BPM
Steely & Pengo - "Neon" - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Following his arrival on the label last year, Steely returns with two more peaktime weapons on Cre8 Dnb. 'Dead Out' lives up to its name: a sheet metal slammer with bitter bass textures and wallop back and forth giving you no room to breathe and plenty of energy to dance. Then we hit 'Neon', a more space-aged take on dancefloor D&B. Written with fellow rising talent Pengo, here we're hit with Ram Trilogy-like fills and more twists and turns than a hedge maze in a posh person's garden. The bright lights beckon...

Raise It Up (feat Funsta/RMS/Dcision) - (4:30) 175 BPM
Crowd Pleaser (feat Brockout) - (4:18) 174 BPM
Electric Flow (feat Brockout/Funsta) - (3:58) 179 BPM Hot
Review: MC Zee is a Toronto-based lyricist who is no stranger to Cre8DnB, being the founder of the local collective and radio show Cre8DnB in the 6ix. He teams up with fellow Ontario locals Brockout, RMS and Dcision on "Raise It Up" in which this dream team delivers the very best of heavyweight Canadian bass. There is also the jump-up throwdown of "Crowd Pleaser" featuring Brockout and to round out the EP, Zee teamed up with the legendary UK bar king Funsta on the tough techstep roller "Electric Flow".

Let Me Down / Clear To Engage
Let Me Down - (3:39) 175 BPM Hot
Clear To Engage - (3:44) 175 BPM
Review: Cre8 welcome newcomer Steely to the fray with two humungous bruisers: 'Let Me Down' takes reference from the Supreme Being style of late 2000s jump-up that's all chainsaws and bassline bloodshed. 'Clear To Engage' maintains the gnarly grit and tension but with more warped sound design and space between the twisted textures. Straight to the dancefloor, this is mangling music.

Machines
Get Ready - (4:23) 175 BPM
Secrets - (3:39) 175 BPM Hot
Machines - (4:23) 175 BPM
Pretty Good - (3:39) 175 BPM
Review: Pow! Right in the kisser! Master Error teams up with hyped new talent Nkid for four grotty stink-ups on Cre8. 'Get Ready' prepares us mentally and physically for the onslaught with its sandpaper bassline hits and widescreen kicks. It's backed up more extreme fire: 'Secrets' hits with such an alluring high frequency in the riff that you'll be confessing to all sorts by the time the breakdown kicks in, 'Machines' gets super twisted with its halftime intro and fax machine style bleeps and squeaks while 'Pretty Good' brings the EP to a close in a fine trippy fashion that's not dissimilar to the Audioporn nutcase Gino. Feed the machine!
