Review: Italy's Francesca Lombardo saw her debut on Crosstown Rebels back a few years ago, and the artiste returns to the mighty imprint with a fresh four-tracker for the body and soul. "Perseidi" is a hypnotic shot of house psychedelia that flutters away amid fuzzy low frequencies and rattling percussion twists, a tune that's backed by a remix from Transmat's Aril Brikha who jacks it up and adds in a fine layer of sci-fi Detroit vibes. "Uttermost" is a little funkier and bouncier thanks to its wavy chords, while "Tulips On Mars" goes deeper into cyber space with its cinematic bassline and spacey pads. Hot stuff, this!

Review: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus seems to be mellowing with age - or at least getting more artistically adventurous. This follow-up to his 2009 debut, Smoke The Monster Out, was co-produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford in LA. London and Mexico, with the assistance of an impressive cast of musicians from around the world. While rooted in the kind of tactile house and techno most associated with the evergreen hipster, Message From The Other Side is impressively psychedelic, otherworldly and stargazing in outlook. The album's woozy, horizontal appeal is therefore enhanced by Lazarus and Ford's use of Indian instrumentation, African percussion and impeccable keys-work from American jazz pianist Eric Lewis.

Review: For those techno fans of a certain age, Dave Angel is a legend, the UK producer who almost single-handedly invented the high-paced 'jazz techno' sound. With the passage of time and age, Angel has lowered his tempo, but not his approach. The title track is an insistent affair led by repetitive stabs and a vocal sample intoning the title. The only new elements are the dubby inflections that lend the arrangement a more reflective feeling than usual. "Guru" is redolent of Angel's late 90s work. Here again the tempo is slower, but the snapping percussion, menacing bass and filtered builds sound inspired by his 39 Flavours of Tech Funk release.

Review: Quenum and Cesare (of Cesare vs Disorder fame) team up for this outing as Azimute. The title track is a rolling, clubby rhythm, supported by a dark bass and led by hypnotic vocal chants. There is a similar approach on "Where Is The Magic", but on this occasion, the pair veer closer to the leaden percussion and steppy grooves of Martyn. While both of these tracks show that the pair is adept at making dance floor bombs, "Always" shows that they can go further. Over a shimmering dub groove they introduce an operatic vocal that will resonate with even the most cynical soul.

Review: Damian Lazarus is usually good at spotting musical trends, then reinterpreting them in his own occasional singles. The globally focused Ancient Moons project, which sees him working alongside Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford and various musicians and vocalists from around the world - is a perfect example. Here, the tech-house-meets-world-music jam "Lovers Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Majariya)" is remixed by Mendo and Dixon. Both producers make extensive use of the traditional qawwali vocals, with Mendo layering them over a thrusting, Panorama Bar-friendly darkroom rhythm. Dixon, meanwhile, goes deeper still, delivering a chugging, Innervisions style groover that makes great use of the original's traditional Asian percussion.

Review: Following well received releases on Homecooking and Defected, Vernon and DaCosta bring their Raw District project to Crosstown Rebels. "Ragged Star", featuring the woozy spoken word vocals of Ellipsis, is a retro-futurist gem, wrapping an acid house bassline and minor key chords around what sounds like a break from Fast Eddie's '80s house banger "Hip-House". "Turn Away" is deeper and dreamier, whilst retaining the duo's usual flickering, late night feel. Crosstown Rebels have recruited Josh Wink to remix, and he doesn't disappoint. The veteran house producer delivers a pair of pounding reworks based around sweaty, jackin' percussion and mid-2000s style tribal riffs. The intense Bass Mix is probably our pick, but they're both righteous.

Review: Hot Natured band member Luca Cazal (AKA Luca C) makes a belated solo debut for Crosstown Rebels, predictably delivering an EP jam-packed with atmospheric, shuffling tech-house gems. The groove underpinning lead cut "Mariri" swells impressively, offering ample room for Cazal's low-register bassline, restless cowbells and unusual vocal sample to take effect. Detroit techno legend Stacey Pullen remixes, delivering a version with a touch more energy and plenty of sci-fi inspired electronic touches. Elsewhere, Cazal joins forces with Mark Jenkyns on the bouncy, rave-goes-deep chugger "The Bullfrog", while all-star hook-up "Memory Man" is formidably wide-eyed, centering the action around dreamy vocals, bubbling electronics and deliciously tactile chords.

Review: Much has changed for Ali Love since the release of his Love Harder in 2010. For starters, he's fallen in with the Hot Creations camp, scored a massive chart hit ("Benediction", with Hot Natured) and seen his reputation soar. This latest full length - the belated follow-up to Love Harder - shows how far he's come. While the bright electrofunk synths, '80s soul vocals and Italo-influenced rhythms of old remain, P.U.M.P contains far more tactile, wide-eyed deep house moments than we've come to expect. It's a subtle evolution - there are still plenty of near Balearic synth-pop moments - but a successful one. The result is an effortlessly sweet and accessible album that blends throbbing dancefloor moments with baggier, more laidback fare.

Review: There's no stopping Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels. Having just noisily celebrated their first decade, the label has moved seamlessly into their next ten years. Here, label regular Subb-Ann unleashes a surprisingly soulful slice of deep tech-house. "Say No More", featuring the distinctive vocals of SYF, bubbles along impressively, offering just the right balance between undulating electronic groovery, low-end bounce and glassy-eyed tech-soul. There's a chunkier, bassier interpretation in the form of the "Terrace Dub", while Matthew Jonson's epic interpretation strips the track back to a skeleton, synth-heavy groove. In the process, the Canadian does a superb job in bringing out the track's soulful side.

Review: On his new record for Crosstown Rebels, rising tech house trooper Russ Yallop creates the kind of sinister n' sexy electro-house-pop that has been setting alight the likes of Hot Natured and Visionquest, helped no end by an edgy vocal turn from Aimee Sophia. Huxley gets busy for a remix, bringing forth some brighter elements from the keys to the New Jersey swing, while the electro bassline gets swapped for some rude garage antics. There's a decidedly different dub version from Huxley as well that takes a moodier tone, and then original jam "How I Feel" rounds proceedings off with a bleep-inflected broody mover.

Review: After his welcome return to the long-player format for Crosstown Rebels in the shape of Her Blurry Pictures, three of Mathew Jonson's creations from the record have been given over to a fine selection of remixers to bring their own interpretations to bear on the plush electronic soul the Canadian champ peddles. Dixon makes for a snug fit on "Level 7", simmering the original down without losing any of the celestial magic of those trademark Jonson synths. Tale Of Us bring a live, skippy feel to "Kissing Your Eyes" with some hands-on drums and warbling keys a plenty. Akufen meanwhile seems to be reaching more towards his Horror Inc project as he muses on "Body In Motion" in a low-slung, jazz-inflected style with a healthy dose of micro shuffle thrown in for good measure.

Review: The irritatingly on-point Crosstown Rebels are back with yet another instant hit from Italian wonder girl, Francesca Lombardo. "What To Do" is an infectious, late night, lo-fi house tune with Lombardo's evocative vocals running all over it; topping it off are a fine selection of remixes from Infinity Ink, Matrixxman and Luca Cazal, the latter churning out a fine dub re-work of the original. Big!

Review: The elaborately named Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs might not be the first name one would expect to mix the Lost series from Crosstown Rebels, but his forthcoming Lost IV does look promising, not least for the inclusion of "Lion, The Lion" a collaboration with the eponymous West Countryman Eats Everything. Wisely plucked from the forthcoming mix for single release here, Damian Lazarus and co. have also commissioned two very complementary remixes from 4Lux boss Gerd. Back to the original, and "Lion, The Lion" comes across like the second coming of fidget house and is apparently the results of two days recording at Eats Everything's studio HQ last December and has been eagerly awaited since it was unveiled on the producer's Essential Mix.

Review: Hot Creations boss man Jamie Jones resurfaces on the Crosstown Rebels label with his first solo transmission of the year, the rather fruitily titled Moan & Groan. Filled to bursting point with all the typical Jammy Jones production points - think bouncy groove, irresistible drops and hushed deviant vocals - "Moan & Groan" arrives just in time for the summer slog on the Croatian coastline. It's complemented by two remixes of "Tonight In Tokyo" - one of the secret weapons Jones included on last year's Crosstown Rebels album of sorts Tracks From The Crypt - from Breach and Cassius. Ben Westbeech's darker alias teases out some deep basslines for his rework whilst veteran French duo Cassius are on altogether more epic form.

Review: Canadian producer Jonson unveiles his second solo album. While there are signs that his sound is gradually mutating, for those who were seduced by 'Marionette', there is plenty to get excited about here. "Level 7" offers up those typical, slightly detuned trance melodies that Jonson forged his reputation on, set to a rolling groove and heavy claps, while the title track's psychedelic hooks float through a fluffy ambient backdrop. But "Pictures" also shows that Jonson has moved on; "Touch the Sky" features the kind of jazzy licks that Cobblestone Jazz specialise in - set to a rumbling bass - and more impressively, "Sahara" sees him lay down evocative blues guitar over a pulsing, rhythm track. The approach may have changed, but originality remains his strong point.

Review: Bringing one of those vocals that will be nagging in the noggin long after the lights have come up; Ali Love and Kali are in prime pop-picking mode with this new single on Crosstown Rebels. The structure of the track is still in keeping with the label's slick take on house music; while the vocals intone a message of massaged ego that translates smoothly to Waze & Odyssey's more brooding remix. Maceo Plex comes in with a more romantic vision for the track, laying out thick reams of synth in a seductive late night style that can bleed outwards to fill a space large or small.

Review: In something of a surprising move, Sergio 'Delete' Munoz's Fur Coat project returns to Crosstown Rebels with a former member of UK girl group All Saints in tow. Mel Blatt makes all the right moves for a sterling house vocal, keeping the soul piled on thick, while Fur Coat's production makes for a dextrous ride through intricate, textured deep house peppered with found sounds, dusty vinyl rips and an addictive rubbery bassline. DJ Sneak is backing things up with a classically bumping remix that leans on his usual funk licks and splashy hats for the heat of the night, while Just Be head into a more psychedelic territory peppered with colourful synths, but anchored by a humming pad that sits underneath the charming sonic decoration.

Review: Crosstown Rebels head honcho, Damien Lazarus, has taken it upon himself (and his crew) to mark the "cosmically significant" date of December 21 with a 24-hour megaparty in Mexico. For those of us unable to attend in person, this accompanying compilation is the next best thing. Beginning with Pier Bucci's fittingly titled, and deliciously trippy, "Mayans", we get the exotic and trancey "The Prophecy" by Quenum, Matthew Jonson's sinister tech-houser "In Search Of A New Planet With Oxygen", the sublime "Cosmic Dancer" by Francesca Lombardo, the urgent menace of "Greed Insanity" by Fur Coat and the haunting, end-of-the-world vibes of "2012" by Jay Haze.
