Review: Channelling the spirit and sound of 90s dance music, Sol Ortega kick-starts Hysteria in euphoric mode. "Why (Rave mix)" is based on robust break beats and dramatic chord builds. Factor in a breathy vocal and the listener is transported back to an earlier, more innocent time. The title track sees Ortega take a more contemporary view. While the legacy of rave reverberates through the arrangement in the form of insistent stabs, the focus is on a rolling, tribal groove. But it's only a temporary diversion, and Fjaak's remix of "Why" also draws on the golden age of dance, resounding to jittery piano keys and a grainy, swung rhythm.
