Review: Azteca is one Norbert Nagy, resident of Romania's famous Kudos Beach, and who has released on top labels like Bondage Music recently. His new one here for local legend Mihai Popoviciu's Cyclic Music features four slinky and hypnotic cuts - all delivered in the trademark tradition of the sound of Bucharest. The ethereal dancefloor journey of "Sojourn" gets a deep down and dirty makeover for one of the city's most renowned after hours parties by label boss Popoviciu, and the tough jacking acid house attack of "Leveling Around" sure makes for one well balanced release. Follows up some great releases on the label by Toman, Germany's Markus Homm and Russian Dirty Culture.
Review: Bremen, Germany's Die Vogelperspektive are back with some more tough and moody grooves on the Wall Smash EP. Wasting no time getting down to business on the fierce people mover that is the title track, featuring liberal white noise washes, a humming sub bass and gutsy rhythm: this ticks all the right boxes. "Marshmallow" is much dubbier and smooth with darkly emotive pads, sultry vocal loops and all round eerie atmosphere; nice one! Finally "White Cherry" is a slinky tech house journey that you can imagine trancing out to under a strobe light at Ritter Butzke next weekend at some ungodly hour of the morning.
