Review: Now here's an exciting union... Long time soldier Jaydan who usually flexes on the more jump-up side of the D&B sound is getting deep and heavy on S.P.Y's DARKMTTR. He's hitting all the right spots, too. Five slabs of utter fire, highlights include the sweeping, bass drama of 'Nobody Else', the high voltage bass lighting strikes and spacious steps of the title track 'Alternate Universe' and epic production and strongarm vibe on 'Hustler' where massive pneumatic kicks plunge us deep into the dancefloor and the breakdown whisks us up into the heavens. And that's the tip of this alternate iceberg.

Review: Time to offer a hearty and genuine 'U Ok hun?' to IAMDOOMED as he returns to S.P.Y's DARKMTTR imprint once again with two more darkside heavers. 'Bad Trip' hits us first with heavy, warped out tones and textures. Not quite the bad trip your grandad had at Woodstock but rough enough to twist your melon, it's another heavyweight offering from the mysterious producer. 'Black Mirror' remains just as foreboding but with more of a sweeping, contemporary bassline.

Review: The Brazilian connection! Alibi make their debut on S.P.Y's DARKMTTR with four of their finest. 'It Could Be' hits with a scorchio bottom end but cosmic vocals, 'Soundsystem is utter speak-shaking rolling venom, 'Ruthless' maintains the dark pressure with more of a minimalist flavour while 'Another Chance' concludes the EP on a more introspective emotional one. Alibi at their best.

Review: S.P.Y - can look back over his career with Hospital Records, Shogun Audio and Metalheadz and feel pretty good about his contribution to drum and bass. Looking to the future, DARKMTTR is the artist's new label project dedicated to contemporary, new forms. Keeping the piano rolls fresh and drums liquid in "I've Been Missing You", the groove stays the same in "Alpha Centauri" only with a heavier bassline added to compliment its menacing atmospheres and low end swagger. Breaking it down some in the title-track with rip-roaring synths and tear-out breaks, a slightly stripped back but loaded number of low end frequencies thrum underneath a barrage of chaotic drums, white noise and epic drops in "Bad Monday". DARKMTTR has arrived.
