Hidden Knowledge EP
Review: Strap yourselves in for a journey into both abstraction and originality as we see Marka San & Axel Holy join forces for a metallic trek through five monstrous originals. Firstly, the smokey hip hop flavours of 'Where Did You Go', driven by heavily affected vocal techniques and eerie backdrops to kick us off perfectly. Next, 'Patterns' sees the pair dive into a more dubstep-inspired crunch, followed by the industrial percussive pops of 'Classics' and further vocal delivery in the twisted lyricism of 'Hidden Knowledge'. Finally, 'Robert Downey' closes off the EP with a more stripped-back feel, allowing Marka San & Axel Holy to run riot with typically intricate displays. A very unique project that packs a punch from start to finish!

Overexciting EP
Review: Marking a new era for DNO Records, PLLFRY introduces the Overexciting EP, a five-track release brimming with raucous halftime beats and collaborations with vocalists NST and Genoveva. Thriving on iron-clad percussion and a blend of mangled sonic futurism, yet it consistently centred around a powerful, unfiltered bass presence - tracks like "Demolition" and "Collapse Of The System" live up to their names, delivering destructive basslines and chaotic beats that shatter the norm. The title track showcases a nuanced contrast, with a serpent-like bassline, ethereal vocals from Genoveva, and intricate hi-hats. "Water Fire" takes the intensity further with an undulating low-end, metallic melodies, and a slippery vocal contribution from NST. The bonus track "Old School" pays homage to hip-hop's golden age, infusing a boom bap beat with machine glitches and acid pellets. DNO knows.

Moon Operator EP
Review: DNO have pulled together a really spicy box of tricks with this one as Howman steps up with five hard hitting heaters, opening up with the curling synth sweeps of 'Low Guy', giving us a super atmospheric 2-step roller, never sitting still for one minute. From here, 'Molasses' links up trickling metallic synth drips with a much slower paced backdrop of eerie drum lines, before 'Moon Operator', the project's title track, sends us into a state of syncopated sleep, drifting between clouds of distant vocal distortion. We then find ourselves coming around to the charming melodic chimes and razor-like synthesis of 'Over', before closing out the collection with a dungeon-ready dubstep roller in 'Industry', a crunchy combo of dissonant melodic arpeggios and squelching percussive energy to see the EP out in style.

Witness EP
Review: This latest offering from the DNO team is one we can't wait to experience in a dancefloor environment as Kercha unveils 5 swampy masterclasses in 2022 dubstep energy. We open up with the ticking percussion and eerie atmospheric pressures of 'Disarray', which through unique woodwind toots and slithering bass manipulation gets us off to a cracking start. From here, 'Witness' arrives with a much more lo-fi drum set, focussing on potent sub activity and dizzying delays, before the sharpened drum processing of 'Conjugate' and tripletted rhythmic shivers of 'Long Way' give us a face full of bass-driven goodness. Finally, the more syncopated arrangement of 'New World' gives us a seriously crunchy final outing, with an unpredictable mesh of synthetic stabs and stuttered drum struts causing us to watch our step as the EP draws to a close.

Mental Ballast EP
Review: Next up from the DNO camp, we jump into this tasty helping of 140 goodness from Kercha, kicking off with the swamp-like bass textures and sweeping synthetic energies of 'Ignorants', a sumptuous creation injecting energy from the off. Next, 'Mental Ballast' unleashes a sizzling display of pulsating sub-tones before Yoofee arrives for some additional collaborative input on 'Analysis', a perfect fusion of fluttering arpeggios and grizzly bass energy. Next, up, 'Tigers' continues with the pulsing arpeggio theme, this time using jittering high ended melodies to deliver an intense display of original dubstep flavour, before the lethal sub-textures and moody LFO arrangements of 'Acid' sees the EP out with a well rounded closer.

Culture Clash EP
Review: Now, The Untouchables have gained quite the reputation for exploring the more experimental side of bass music, with this latest drop on DNO being a perfect way to showcase their intricate electronic designs in style. We begin with the thunderous drum punches and high tempo rhythms of 'Audacity', before 'Galactic Noise' unleashes an even more display of rapid-fire drum slaps and distant atmospheric pressure. The tribal designs of the title track 'Culture Clash' follow, combining gorgeous percussive lines with smooth processing for a real impactful creation before the shaker-heavy slides of 'Time Travellers' sees out the original tracklisting for this one in style. Finally, the bonus track 'China Haze' gives us one last dash of steppers flavour, working yet more percussive genius into a packed out low end with relative ease. Top stuff from all involved!
