Review: The DPM label may only be two releases deep, but they know how to spot a killer track. "Chills", the latest "garage 2.0" slammer from A. Motion, has received regular plays on Rinse FM over the last six months following Royal T's decision to champion it earlier in the year. Despite the title, it's actually a rather warming concoction, with toasty organ stabs and a sturdy rhythm that sits somewhere between two-step and classic speed garage providing the main talking points. A thunderous sub bassline, choice vocal samples and UK Funky-style melodies complete a heavy, floor-friendly workout. Moony remixes, turning the sprightly, light-footed original into a surging chunk of revivalist speed garage.
Review: Conducta is a leader in the future garage movement and here he returns to his own bubbler from last year, Let Go, to deliver a VIP treatment. The result is a sizzling rework that's strictly for the after hours clubs - luring you in with a classic 2-step sound before dropping some big bouncy basslines, a smidgeon of wobble and soulful vocals. Boom!
Review: The trio of Arthur, Sam and Alex, aka Wolfe, released their two-track underground hit Love Is/Without U at the start of March. Although we're still rinsing it left, right and centre, they'll decided to follow it up with some remixes. In other words, they're spoiling us! The former is tackled by DJ Direct, who turns the tune into punchy 4 x 4 banger loaded with big synthy drops and even bigger build-ups. The latter meanwhile is taken in deeper direction by MindOfaDragon, who delivers scattershot steppy beats bleeps, whirrs and eerie pads. Top quality gear!
