Review: It's been a short while since we last heard from Dubchild, who is this time joined by both Groove Chronicles and IG culture, alongside the soulful, harmonious vocal displays of Nia for a top quality set of remixes for 'I Need It'. Following on from the nostalgic bumps of the original recording, we firstly jump into the Groove Chronicles rework, a smoothly arranged stutter through tidy vocal chops and sharp drum arrangement, before IG Culture unveil their 2-step inspired 'Bruk Rejig'. To close, that same Rejig is given a dub version to close the project off in style.
Review: What a fabulous collection we have here as Groove Chronicles' own Noodles sees the official link up with Dub Child for this potent 'Air Waves' compilation, exploring both old and new school garage flavour from start to finish. The project is jam-packed with rave-ready weaponry, from the intense bass warblings of the introductory 'Gee Pattern', to the more rhythm lead percussive clicks of 'Ur Name & Number' and haunting vocal pressures of 'Come 2 Me'. The project is a really timeless showcase of all the different areas that garage music is able to traverse, from the more mellow side of the genre to the most intense mountain peaks also found at the other end of the spectrum. Our highlights include the niche-like 4x4 mix of 'The Truth', fusing eerie vocal choirs with intense bassline action, next to the classic drum & vocal chops of 'Gotta Move'. A very enjoyable selection indeed!
Review: It's always exciting to see new projects dropping from Groove Chronicles, with Noodles this time joining forces with Dubchild for an extensive compilation project, featuring 15 heavyweight singles for all garage heads to enjoy. The breadth of the collection is pretty impressive, from the nostalgia-inducing vocal lines of 'In & Out's 2-Step mix to the more dancefloor ready drum arrangements within the 4x4 mix of 'Badman Sub' and quirky synth design of 'Be My Friend'. All 15 tracks have a correct time and place to enjoy, with our standouts including the high intensity chord maneuvers and scintillating sub pulses of 'The Way You', next to the sing along vocals of 'My Thing' and twisted processing of 'Zip It Up', which is sure to take on a trip down the sonic rabbit hole. Amazing work!
