Review: It's always exciting to see the Dank 'n' Dirty Dubz team arrive with a high energy compilation, with this years '4/20' collection supplying a top quality collection of original dubstep heat. Featuring a pretty exceptional tracklisting, we see the likes of Oakin, Khromi, Jafu, Requake, Mambele, L-Wiz, Pushloop and many more established faces land with a dizzying set of dubwise designs, perfect for both the late night ravers and the day-time skankers. Our two highlights would have to include the skippy chord jitters and booming subs of Nightmare & Oni's 'Soldier Stance', followed by the breaks infused percussive drifts of 'Champagne' from The Widdler, giving us a serious sack of sizzlers to enjoy!

Review: As always with Dank N Dirty Dubz, they have done the business and supplies us with an exceptional selection of dubstep heat from Depth. We kick off with 'Unloved', a very smartly arranged exploration into eastern vocals and moogy pulses, before 'Clean Dem', provides us with a sub-heavy haunted thrill ride, topped off by Jafu's energetic 2-step style rethink. From here we then dive into 'Mist', a warbling drift through minimal drum work and powerful bass notation, coupled with Demure's recreation, exploding with percussive energy from start to finish.

Review: For the most recent edition of the Dank N Dirty Dubz catalogue, we welcome the sounds of Demure, a Zimbabwaen dubstep mastermind who's uniquely melodic approach to the deeper side of dubstep is a real breath of fresh air. The title track 'Velezansi' gives us a real taste of this as we are greeted by breathy pad textures and pulsating drum layers, over warbling LFOs far beneath. Next, 'Umoya' deploys subtle sub textures and cute drum processing before we hear the unpredictable rhythmic manoeuvres of 'Thin Line' and shimmering synthesizer saxophone combinations of 'Starlight'. The project then signs out on 'Power Shift', a haunted, OST-like design, driven by spacious synthesizer pulls and apocalyptic guitar plucks. Stunning work.

Review: Now as far as compilations go, this without a doubt has to be one of our favourite dubstep selections of the year so far as Dank n Dirty unveil seventeen original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Aztek, Arta, Liquid Memoirs, Enigma Dubz and more. For us, this compilation showcases so much, from the emotional tones of 'Shaking & Withdrawn' from Legend4ry and the dubwise inspired arrangements of Otz's 'Moody Dub', to the super shuffling rhythms of 'Kashmir' from Khromi. For us, there are some real standouts to this one, the first of which comes from living dubstep legend: The Widdler, with his spacey, dub-infused original entitled 'THC'. As well as this, the potent collaboration between Roomate and Dokter named 'Overstanding' packs a serious punch.

Review: Time for a latter platter; Utah abyss explorers Durandal and Funkmod make their debut on the mighty DND with five stinking bass creepers. Vibes range from soaking wet frog bass and alien weirdness on "Choomah Dub" to pressure cooked bounce dynamics and shimmering skanks on "Wise Up". Need more you greedy animal? Jump on their remix of Pushloop. Pure filth.

Review: Californian bass crusader makes himself known on DNDD with four heavyweight cuts. "Midnight Wax" soundtracks a paranoid graveyard prowl, all shadows and owl hoots. "Secret Society" is a harmonically fine-tuned stepper that's tailored for the biggest of rigs while "White Magic" blows cosmic pipe wind into our third eyes with total dubspace satisfaction and "Kula Kula" takes us deep into the north African deserts with immense and foreboding results. Remix-wise Caidance adds layers of hazy mystical atmospheres while The Widdler fazes out the vocal and remoulds our attention to the drums. Debuts don't come much stronger than this.
