Established 2003 in Glasgow. Darkroom Dubs is an independent haven for all forms of underground electronic music. Founded and driven by DJ & production duo Silicone Soul, the label has consistently forged into the deepest hours to deliver timeless and immersive sounds.
Late-night creations come courtesy of bright young talents and scene pioneers alike: Sei A, Skinnerbox, The Spirals (aka Silver City), dubspeeka, Of Norway and Dimitri Veimar are just some of the artists who’ve delivered early and breakthrough cuts on the label while innovators such as Extrawelt, Alex Niggeman and Belgian new beat godfather Frank De Wulf have all ventured deep into the Darkroom.
Writhing strictly in those mystic, unanswered, hazy moments where both introspection and unity play equal parts: Whether it’s a narrative-subverting Skinnerbox edit, an abstract bass jam from ld!r or a triumphant cosmic salvo from the label bosses themselves (or anything in between), each Darkroom Dubs release is built upon the most honest foundations of dancefloor chemistry: physical grooves, original creativity, and full soul immersion.
Review: Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs build on the foundations laid 30 years ago during that Second Summer Of Love - and they rewind back to that zeitgeist in '88/'89 by way of current artists and some legends alike: the heady haze of two culture-accelerating summers. The veteran UK DJ Justin Robertson fires up his Deadstock 33 alias once again on this blissed-out electro groove of "Infinite Interchange", Scandinavian tech-house heroes Of Norway (Connaisseur/My Favorite Robot) deliver the dubby and evocative mood lighting of "She Never Lost A Passenger" and label mainstays Skinnerbox get properly moody on the atmospheric "Nyeusi" (Original Mix).
