Review: Delta9 is an Italian label which has now firmly cemented its place at the forefront of the minimal drum & bass extravaganza. This single is a remix outing from Black Barrel and Quadrant & Iris, who are jumping behind the wheels for Jestah & Creautures and DOT. & Compiler. The result is a bitingly tight rendition of the originals, as Black Barrel blends croaking synth work with a simple, elegant and yet devastatingly effective bassline that ripples with funk and energy. The flip by Quadrant & Iris is rougher in tone but no less precise, as dripping acid-infused synths light the road ahead through a pitch of inky blackness. Brilliant.
Review: Premiership D&B deepsmiths Delta9 hit the streets once again for another immense VA collection. All chiselled from new-gen coal face, all devilishly dark and stripped-back in nature, tracks come from the likes of Waeys, Screamarts, Askel & Elere, Sl8r, Nemy and many more key names-to-watch who are showing all the right sings of donning things in the very near future. Highlights across the 25 track collection include the waspy stabs and elastic bassline of Nemy's "Distracting", the bulldozer groove of RMS's "Mikro", the faraway soul and epic atmospheres of Glyph's "Across Hidden Dimension" to name but a few...
Review: Delta9 Recordings is one of the standout smaller labels of the last 18 months or so, with a string of releases that showcase just how much the scene is flourishing in terms of up and comers. Waeys had his first drum & bass release on Overview last year, and 'Vesta' shows off just how good this young producer is. The title track is the highlight, a stabby, superbly well put together roller that blends a panopoly of harsh sounds together into a formidable piece of dancefloor drum & bass. His remix of 'Deadline' by Krispy is also fantastic - this isn't a release to miss.
Review: Invadhertz are one of the best acts working on the more minimal side of the spectrum right now, with releases on Flexout, Context and more, and now they're flying the Italian flag on Delta9 Recordings. This is a sweet EP, featuring a stinking remix from fre4knc, that stretches out over six tracks of pure stripped back, industrial sonics. There's a range of sounds, from the minimal forces of 'Neo Tribes' contrasting with the rolling liquid sounds of 'Take Me Places'. This is a piece of quality from Delta9.
