Desolat

Founded in 2007, Desolat is a renowned record label based in Dusseldorf, Germany. It emerged from the creative journey of two close friends who made a bold decision to leave their home country behind and relocate to Brooklyn, New York. In the midst of this change, they established a new studio and dedicated themselves to producing fresh tracks, seeking solace and inspiration in the vibrant city.

During their time in creative seclusion, a powerful idea was conceived—an idea that would become the next significant step in their profound connection. This vision materialized in July 2007 with the birth of Desolat.

Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich, both established figures in the music industry, embarked on this ambitious venture to create an independent and efficient platform for releasing music they genuinely appreciate. Drawing upon their extensive artistic backgrounds, they embraced the challenge and channeled their expertise into forming Desolat, a label that embodies their passion and love for music.

Today, Desolat stands as a respected label within the music community, showcasing a diverse range of talented artists and delivering captivating releases. With its roots firmly planted in Dusseldorf, Germany, Desolat continues to shape the electronic music landscape, driven by the shared vision and unwavering commitment of Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich.

Review: It's hard to believe that Loco Dice's label has been around for so long - or more surprisingly that it covers so much ground. While much of the label's focus remains on toolish, tribal house, 5 Years also covers deep, chiming house, audible on Yaya's "Our Connection" and the driving, vocal-filled groove of Dice's own "Lolopopinho". Of the tribal-styled tracks, the ones that stand out most are the ponderous vocals of Basti Grub's "Drunk & High" and the intoxicating chants of Francisco Allendes' "Platonic Solid". Yet neither can compare to the acid-filled, rolling snares of Horatio's "How Much 909 Can You Take", which sounds like LFO vs FUSE's "Loop" on acid.
