Review: Jefre Cantu-Ledesma's music is a sublime strain of ambient music, one that is rich in energy and full of kinetic vibrance, which is why we always pay close attention to his movements. He's back on the Devotion imprint with these five wonderful deviations towards the left of field, starting with the eye-opening drones of "Love's Refrain" which dilute beautifully into a placid pool of atmospheric though "Little Dear Isle". The lead track "In Summer" feels watery in texture and conveys a deep sense of euphoria, while "Blue Nudes/I-V" is the first pic of drone on here to contain sparse trickles of percussion, and "Prelude" flaps its noisy wings and glitches amid blurry swarms of female vocal samples. Excellent stuff.
