Digital Soundboy

Digital Soundboy was formed in 2005 by Andre Williams better known as Shy FX, to become one of the most prominent label in the UK pushing bass-forward genres of drum & bass, jungle, reggae, dubstep, house and everything in between to their limits. The Digital Soundboy’s family can count the likes of Breakage, B.Traits, Dismantle, 'boss man' Shy FX and Jakwob. After a few years hiatus, Shy FX announced a comeback in 2021 with a collaborative ‘Darker Than Blue EP’ between himself and Breakage.

Review: Brighton's Dismantle has gotten the attention of big dubstep DJ's and producers over the last few years, and he continues his impressive line of form with a new EP for T-Power's Digital Soundboy. He's brought four tracks fo pure bass aling with him; "If Not" is a tune without genre but it's certainly one which crosses the wires and mashes up house, bashment and more; "Minnion" breaks the tempo down and comes out with a stumbled groove and one hell of a percussive hook; title track "Stranded" is an unexpected carnival monster, a hybrid tune with a heavy low-end, bumpy percussion and racket and those inimitable Brazilian melodies.

Treading Water (VIP) - (4:05) 136 BPM Hot
Review: This latest offering from Breakage is a depth charge of a different style; burning deep and slow with haunting vocals from the stunning Detour City aka Tabitha Benjamin it's a bit of a departure from the usual floor filler. Fill floors it will though, thanks to the anthemic, hypnotic rise of each verse, perfectly suited for off-the-cuff hard-dropping experimentations, the obvious isn't explored here. Instead we hear the chilled VIP or Jakwob's perfect two step-inspired remix, leaving all the tantilising possibilities of that vocal to the imagination. The original is a siren call for the end of the night and if you haven't heard it already, expect it to become the soundtrack to your New Year. Dark enough to hold its own, renew your respect for this producer right here.
