Digital Terror

Proudly flying the flag for heavy-set, pounding US drum & bass, Digital Terror have paved the way for the jump up & rollers sonic-spheres to capitalise on the always-growing scene over the pond, with a pool of new, established and current talent on their impressive roster. Based out of New York, they’ve been ‘keepin it gritty since day 1’, consistently firing forth a barrage of chaotic DnB artillery and pushing the developing NY sound forward in the process. With a back catalogue made up of a cohesive, diverse collective of producers, both Stateside & EU-based including Sub Killaz, Macky Gee, Bou, Hoogs, K Motionz, Jayline, Prestige, Spaow and more, they’re not only an insight into some of the freshest artistry the tempo has to offer, but a certified launching pad into the drum & bass frontline killer sounds.

Review: Digital Terror release music that'll put the fear of god into you, proper big tunes that shake systems and all the rest of it. Lowriderz lands on the label with a cool five-tracker aimed at the jump-up heads amongst you and all of the tracks on this release hit fairly hard, even the first - 'Get Done' -which reels you in with some nice sampling and vocal work from MC No Limit. This release is grating at times but it's worth it, with some big tunes to keep you going. Well played guys.

Smoke The Highgrade EP
Smoke The Highgrade (feat MC Smoky Dogg) - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Lowriderz & Rawtee - "Monsters" - (3:44) 175 BPM
Pitch Fork VIP - (4:27) 175 BPM
Lowriderz & Enek - "Follow Your Dreams" - (4:27) 172 BPM
Review: Fresh from their feather ruffling fourpiece on Heist's Calypso Muzak, Lowriderz return with another quad of floor-flatteners. "Smoke The Highgrade" hums with a Moving Fusion style sub roll that bulldozes a firm timeless groove. Elsewhere the Russians team up with US rising star Rawtee for an amen/dazzled, sample-slapping take on jump up on "Monsters" and Enek with a an AI style power liquid cut "Follow Your Dreams". Looking to bag more agg? Look no further than the old school hardcore style VIP of "Pitch Fork". Grade A++.

Digital Terror Records 5 Year Anniversary (Remix Series 3 Of 4)
Substainless - "True Colours" (Jayline remix) - (6:52) 175 BPM
Hoogs - "Jigsaw" (Macky Gee remix) - (4:34) 175 BPM
Konichi - "Limited" (Prestige remix) - (4:23) 175 BPM
Lowriderz - "Pitch Fork" (Sub Killaz remix) - (4:39) 175 BPM Hot
Breakline - "Orders" (Fineprint remix) - (4:35) 175 BPM
Review: Digital Terror continues to celebrate their half decade anniversary with another stupendously heavy remix collection. Jayline sets the benchmark with a hybrid hardcore/D&B stomper version of Substainless's "True Colours", Macky Gee gets all tripped and atonal on his Hoogs remix, Prestige takes Konichi down into the torture cellar with his take on "Limited" while Lowriderz's "Pitch Fork" gets turned inside out with a jet-powered Sub Killaz shakedown. Finally Fineprint adds a deeper, early Hazard-flavoured twist to Breakline's "Orders". With one more EP left to go, Digital Terror are showing no signs of winding down the festivities right now. Good for them.

Review: Messing with textures isn't enough for Lowriderz - these tracks weigh in by the tonne, jam packed as they are with influences spanning jungle, breakbeat, glitch and drum and bass. Impressively scattered percussion is one of the biggest points of this release, there's no escaping the fact that this is a work of sheer perfectionism. Add to that rampant blasts of bass, occasionally fluttering, occasionally bursting in destructive drones, and a fantastically high standard of sample trickery, this might be the best hard drum & bass release you hear all year. just be ready though, it'll screw with your head.
