Review: We've already been treated to one set of reworks of David Morales and Lea Lorien's lusciuous vocal house number 'Never Looking Back', with invited remixer Sandy Rivera(he of Kings of Tomorrow fame) giving it a classy, heart-warming, deep and soulful spin. We're not sure quite who us behind these 'Disco Juice' remixes, but whoever it is has done a bang-up job. Similar in tone to Louie Vega's hybrid house/disco revisions, the superb main remix (track two) places Lorien's sweet and memorable lead vocal atop a rich, colourful bed of 1970s disco style bass guitar, electronic orchestration, rousing synth-horns and shuffling house drums. The instrumental remix which follows (track three) offers a chance to admire the quality and musical detail of this most positive and life-affirming of reworks.
Review: On this surprisingly speedy sequel to 2021 album Parkside Avenue, David Morales has returned to his vocal house roots, aided and abetted by a strong of guest vocalists and producers. For those who enjoy the more positive end of New York house, there's much to enjoy, including a basement-ready cover of Donna Summer classic 'I Feel Love', a swathe of Philly Soul and disco-influenced numbers (Michelle Perrera collabs 'Life is a Song' and Never Give Up' chief amongst them), a deep, Red Zone style future classic ('The Feels') and a pitched-up deep house gem made in cahoots with similarly long-serving producer/artist Blakkat ('Can't Get Enough').
