Review: Down 2 Earth Muzik is Macky Gee's imprint, his way of putting out more of the music he personally enjoys and wishes there was more of, a stamp he can plonk down on the scene and call his own. This next release is from Gino and it seems like he's heard the criticism that jump up is too samey, and so gone out and tried to refine and change the sound. He's definitely succeeded, whether you're into it is up to you, but there's a certain creativity in how the synths and basses are constructed and how they relate to each other. We love it and can't wait to hear more. The title track is especially good, with a super unique beat pattern and tough and tumble vibes popping off all over the shop.

Review: Down 2 Earth Muzik are without a doubt one of the strongest jump up labels around at the moment and their output is so damn consistent, with almost a new release every week. This week it's the turn of Spaow, a regular on the label, and, this release is a four-tracker chracterised by its sheer veracity. With crisp drums and a tumbling percussive line, 'Sniff The Bass' rolls out in style, hitting punches and stealing packed lunches left right and centre, with a really original, complex approach to make interlinked basses. Gino, Skibadee and Heist features on trracks two, three and four and it's the last of these we love most - 'Plastic Kebab'. Proper tune this - no messing around, but then again what would you expect from these two?

Review: Macky Gee has been absolutely smashing it recently and he's definitely become one of the scene's most reliable sources of explosive dancefloor material. This release is no different, featuring a cut of pure damage in classic Macky style, with plenty of attitude and plenty of gunfinger moments. This one has a seriously hype-inducing build and a raucous drop that reminds us of a Neurofunk track, except without all the unnecessary noise it becomes ten times heavier. We love this one - bigups to Macky.

Review: Belgium's Fanatics makes his debut on Macky's Down 2 Earth and the results are every bit as outer planetary as the title suggests. Grotty, alien, toxic and gravity defying: "Stygian" flips between high voltage bassline sizzles and high frequency riffery, "Holocron" shows us Fanatics' much darker, grumpier side with some precision-chiselled snares slapping you raw, "Lycanthropy" is the bulldozer of the set thanks to its elephantine bass grunts while "Stellar Orb" pings us up beyond the heavens before plunging us back down to earth with a barking bassline. Fantastic Fanatics.

Review: Mollie Collins has risen through the ranks faster than almost anyone in recent times, she got picked up by Mampi Swift early on and since then she's been the sole conductor of her very own DJ train with only one destination - the big leagues. Originally just a DJ, she's now been getting into the studio and clearly finding her feet, as this single demonstrates. 'Lost & Found' is a wispy liquid number, the sort of tune that Mollie would cut into a nasty jump-up track to take you by surprise. Speaking of that, the flip is exactly that: a naughty jump up remix courtesy of Gino. Well played Mollie.

Review: It's releases like this that really showcase the endless possibilities of EDM, as Down 2 Earth Musik bring us a masterful piece of dubstep production, combining the sounds of Noise Cans, Dux N Bass and Jah Vinci for a mega cocktail of creativity. Review: Down 2 Earth Musik is Macky Gee's label and for the end of the year he's coming at you with a fat compilation of tunes that fit in with the sound he's pioneered this year and the last. Not many artists have been as break out a success as Macky this year and it shows on this release, things kicking off with the fiery VIP of 'Calm Before The Storm', an appriopriate title for the first tune of an album that goes on to include tracks like Rawtee's 'Alligator' and Matzet's 'Roller Coaster'. Arguably the highlight comes from Macky himself though when he's joined by MC Skibadee on Bangers N Mash, a proper skank out with one of the most legendary MCs in the game.

Review: Well hello there Xyphon. We see you like a little heavy metal in the mix? So do we. There aren't enough big dancefloor bangers with raw distorted guitar licks in the mix so instant approval is given on the title track alone. Deeper into the EP we're treated to vital variety and versatility; "Escape" is pure euphoria anchored by a Shogun styled bassline, "Lose Control" brings on the strings with sultry drama and a purring sci fi bass groove while "One Love" closes with intoxicating levels of drone bass. Pedal to the metal on this one; Xyphon isn't holding back.

Review: Featuring a flashy album cover laden with neon green and an iPhone, Tesen is here to recharge your desire to get a bit nuts to some top-quality jump-up D&B. The wavering synth-line on the title track opens us up and leads into some filthy, filthy Macky Gee-esque bass synths that rumble all the way down. 'Restart' keeps up the charge and bloody hell, it's big. 'Revive' creeps in on the intro with some well-made synth lines, the riotous kick drum bringing us back to those gnarly basses, the same basses that finish up the EP on 'Meltdown' in spectacular fashion.

Review: Holy moly! If you're looking to get twisted this month, you've come to the right place; Gino (AKA Arnone AKA Rushmore) steps up to Macky Gee's Down 2 Earth and he's packing some absolutely grizzlers. The lead track "Hunger Pains" is a riot waiting to happen with its angular bruising distorted bassline and strange off beat funk, elsewhere we're blinded by the trippy angst of "Henny", our souls are rattled then zapped with 10,000 watts on the weirded out "Smart Thing" and we're turned inside out by the mischievous bass squarks on "Toast AF". It would seem Gino is a lot better in the studio then he is at picking an artist name!

Review: Man like Macky Gee steps up with his fourth artist album and it's by far his most diverse, direct and deadly album to date. Instantly kicking off with pure theatre of "Emperor", Gee then hurls down the stairs with a cavalcade of thumpers, bumpers and bangers. Highlights include the riffalicious spring of "Fever" with Zinc, the icy licks, groaning bass tones and Shotta's powerful bars on "Draw For The Draw", the grotty toxic riffage of "Turn Up" (with Erb N Dub), the swaggering dreamy emotional number "Cloud 9" and the lighter raising anthem-in-waiting "Moments"... Review: Complex wants to take us on a journey and with a reputation and track record as strong as his, we ain't gonna argue with him. Across six tracks he shows the sights and sounds of his sonic landscape; the undulating hills of roller county on the stripped back "Journey", "Beyond" is the playground where we bounce, leap and scrap with unabashed mischief, "Phantasm" is the trippy hippie neighbourhood where sounds spook, freak and twist themselves inside out with dark funk. Elsewhere "Complex Technique" takes us on a tour of the dark alleys and gives us the battering we don't want but deserve while "Ain't Right" is the opera house quarter where the focus is on nothing but drama. And for his final trip "White Walkers", Complex chucks us off a cliff with nothing but broken glass bass to break the fall. Happy travels!

Review: Prague representing! Macky Gee's Down 2 Earth touches down in Czechia for another brutal blend from fast-rising banger sorcerer Matzet. Four tracks in total, this is his largest EP to date and it comes with its down heroic theme... "Roller Coaster" plays the consummate Superman, flying to the rescue risking life and limb as it ducks and dives through the bass turbulence, "The Whistler" plays the role of Iron man with its gung-ho energy and brute force while "Terrorblade" is a pure Spidey tune as the far-out reverse bass flings sticky webs around you as it builds up to a triumphant cinematic finale. Finally we hit the title track; a pure Justice Society banger with uplifting harmonics and a hook that's the strength of 10 heroes.

Review: Riffs alive! Macky Gee flexes hard right here as "Aftershock" flips between a heavenly euphoric feel good vocal hook and one of the most infectious basslines he's ever conjured. Dig deeper into this bassline treasure chest for tin-can kicking scrappage on "Make Me Feel", tongue in cheek hedonism on "Rave To The Grave", darker techier twists on "Suspicious" and a whole load more. All stacked up with big sing-along bottom ends, this is one of Macky's biggest EPs in a very long time.

Hizzleguy trumps the game with an 8-bit remix we've always dreamt of. Full of muscles and mushrooms, you'll be collecting gold coins for a long time to come. Other highlights include the nagging clipped harmonic bass riff on Tsuki's "Kit Kat", the coiled spring rhythm of Matzet's "Loop 95" the croaking bass and rattling percussion of Leaf's "Business" and Replicant's methodical horn-sampling roll-out charmer "Tiger Marks". Review: Finally after months of waiting, Mackey Gee and Phantasy's "Space Hopper" and "Transition" are here. A partnership more dangerous than Putin and Trump in terms of power, strength and raw bass bullishness, both players bring their A-game. The former swaggers and swathes with a mid-2000s Clipz or TC style riffy, infectious bass melody while the latter goes feral with a crazed harmonic bass that grizzles back and forth like Hazard on moonshine before they boot us into the maddest bashment breakdown either artist has ever created. Absolute scenes.

Review: Titles can be misleading... If you think Macky Gee is about to get all deep and poignant with "Calm Before The Storm" think again: everything about this peaktime fire cut is loaded with energy, funk and dynamic ruthlessness. Drop this and we guarantee everyone will stop in their tracks. Elsewhere "Pick 'N' Mix" cuts through the noise with a caustically pinched riff, "Dat Ass" spits with a rampant, ruffled edge that drops into the sexiest chords imaginable on the breakdown while "Moomba Thong" gets all trippy with its instrumentation before hurtling into an anti-drop style heavily swung groove. No calm whatsoever - this whole release is storming.

Review: Two things of the strongest things that can pull you back down to earth: Gravity or a selection curated Macky Gee. This is both; "Gravity" is Macky's label's first various artist collection and it really is a K.O of a leveller. Spaow gets spiky on the riff and 2001 Space Odyssey on the synths, Rowney & Propz remind us that life can be both screwface and bouncy, Modified Motion & Faction get a little playful with the rave breakbeats and Complex whips up the hardest clanking sounds heard this side of your local steel foundry. Dextone closes the show the string-fired drama that is "Riot". Serious D&B right here, bring on the second volume!

Review: Kent producer Macky Gee inaugurated his own Down 2 Earth Musik back in late 2014 with the Evolution EP, and the label's gone on to release music from Good 4 Nothing bossman Complex and Rawtee. A label is sometimes defined by the album projects it releases, so in the case of Down 2 Earth Musik and Macky Gee's Sway, it should be regarded as one of modern day drum and bass's go to platforms for the nastiness. This is his third album of a prolific career thus far, and finds the Mackster further perfecting his template for stern faced dancefloor dynamite across 16 tracks. Look out for MC Skibadee who brings his iconic delivery to two tracks.
