Review: Pow! Benny Page gives 2023 one last kick in the ghoulies with his second album Run For Cover. Following 2018s P.U.R.P.L.E, which was fully led by Sweetie Irie, this LP also celebrates the vocal aspect of jungle and system music with an insane roll call of MC crème dela crème. Spyda, Tenor Fly (RIP), Devilman, Doktor, Bellyman, Eva Lazarus and MC Sye are just some of the mic handlers as Benny bubbles and flexes us through his signature bouncy jungle sound. Highlights include Tenor cutting through the cowbells on 'Rude Boy Sound' and Evie Rose's haunting tones on 'Life Lessons'. Keep this covered!
Review: Who let the dubs out? Benny Page did, of course. He's been letting them out for a long time now and Dub Shotta is the manifestation of everything he's been doing over the years. Just look at the line-up of contributors here... Speaker Louis to Serial Killaz to Kleu to Nick The Lot to Joely to Jenks to many more, it's a powerful new-gen display of power as we're swept off our feet from robotic funk highs (Wigman - 'Best Shot') to glitched out choppy-chop freakery (Zapya & Speaker Louis' 'Toppa') and 27 other sick jams in between. Pound for pound this is one of the heaviest upfront dnb Vas you'll find this month. Woof woof.
