Review: Modified Motion (of Modified Motion & Faction fame, as if you didn't know) looks back over his old alias Zodiac and buffs up the badness for their first ever digital releases. Still packing more punches than a teenage riot, some of these tracks are a good decade old but still rattles and smack harder than a lot of modern jump up; the ominous drone of "Blood Clart", the sinful volcanic dog bark blasts of the still-massive "1200 Miles", the creepy intro and bulldozer drop of "The Game", the list goes on. Check your star signs right now, we guarantee the forecast will be gully.
Review: Power hour crusaders Modified Motion & Faction deliver their second deal finisher of the month. As always, it's nothing short of a full-on mental sonic breakdown as we're thrashed, bashed and sassed by the big electro-style riff dynamics on "Now More Than Ever" and flattened by an outrageously toxic drop on the big screen horror hurter "The Hammer". Once again Modified Motion and Faction have floored us. These aren't mere tunes, they're lifestyle choices.
Review: You know those types of tunes that flip you so hard you have to physically stop, close your eyes and shake your head at how ridiculous the energy is? Look no further... As soon as the blissful pianos and emotional intro of "Don't Go" flip into the brutal abrasive riff, we guarantee you'll be doing just that. Even with Modified Motion & Faction's reputation for hooky power cuts, it's another level. "The Future" doesn't hold back either; pummelling through with ominous brass, a scud-riff rolling jungley drums, it's an instant heads-down argy-barger. Modified Motion & Faction - on point as ever.
Review: Oh yes: Modified Motion & Faction continue to slap 2016 silly with even more turbo bass fun. Classical jump up dynamics apply throughout with the pummelling kicks and Taxman-style bass roughage hitting hard on "That Isn't Enuff". "Serchin" ups the aggy factor a little with more oscillations on the relentless bassline and a cool Q&A style dynamic between the bass tones. No messing around - this is straight up dancefloor dynamite.
Review: Oi and indeed oi, longstanding partnered masters Modified Motion and Faction return with two all-out party pieces that slap and tickle with a heritage mischief. "Magic Man" has late 90s Moving Fusion feel to it with its croaky bass, casual sense of funk but focussed sense of energy. "Steezin For No Reason", meanwhile, doffs its cap to the mid-2000s Roni, Clipz or even "Shot Down On Safari"-era Fresh style where the bass and stabs rip and flare with total animated character. Chaos guaranteed.
Review: Discovered by the legendary DJ Hype, Leicester's Jamie Cope aka Jaydan's star is on the rise. The Smokin' Riddims main man has also released on labels like Innerground, Propaganda, Blueprint and Ganja Records: where he met Hype. It is grinding street level bass therapy on "Special Technique", its synth lead comes tearing through the speakers like a chainsaw cutting through metal while the relentless hum of the low frequency lurks beneath. The entertaining movie samples continue on "Words In Trouble" which sounds smooth and ethereal like an LTJ Bukem track for a bit, until that abrasive smash and buzz makes a return!
Review: While it awaited a formal release, "It's Spelled PIMP" has been patiently wrecking homes, clubs and soundsystems wherever it was spun. A bonafide riot of drum and bass influences, it plunges from restrained beauty to ferocious hardcore to jump up madness and back again throughout, leaving absolutely no time for non-essential things like breathing. It's a breeding ground for flailing arms and twisting bodies and if your local dancefloor isn't having this dropped already, you're in for a treat when it finally wrecks up your neighbourhood. Buy it now and call it a pre-emptive strike.
