Review: Thomas Schumacher follows last year's You Belong Here EP with this stunning set of remixes. The Electric Ballroom owner's take on Zajon's "Rage Control" sees him effortlessly meld the original track's rapping with a grainy, acidic bass and pounding kicks. Schumacher's remix of Maketech's "Konfusion" follows a similar trajectory, with wired 303s and intense snare rolls to the fore. In contrast, the second, extended version of the same track puts the focus on dramatic chord sweeps and Amen breaks. Best of all though is Schumacher's interpretation of Mark Porter's "Telegraph", where he channels the energy of Dave Clarke's "Red 2" to deliver a chord-heavy banger.
Review: Thomas Schumacher follows the recent You Belong Here release with another storming EP for his Electric Ballroom label. "Interlinked" starts off in relatively understated mode with a throbbing groove, but that's before Schumacher introduces hardcore riffs, filtered for maximum impact, and follows that with the kind of scorched earth acid line that Hardfloor excel at. Powered by rolling snares, these elements come together for an intoxicating track. On "Moxie", the seminal German producer borrows what sounds like an 'acieed' sample and marries it with a wild, building 303 sequence and intense, rolling snares. Playing out over concrete weight kicks, it makes for a fresh new take on the eternal acid sound.
