Review: Here we see Elektroshok continue on their flying run of releases as they bring the likes of Pingueino to the table on this exciting double drop. As a label, Elektroshok have gained a real reputation for high energy, creative breakbeat music and the trend certainly doesn't stop here. We begin with the reesey rolls and scatty textures of the title track 'Penguin's Sh*t' which also comes laced with intuitive vocal stabs and punchy snare lines. On the flip we strip it back a tad for the sharp arrangement of 'Turbino', which transforms from emotive keys across the build up to a distortion overload come the drop. Really exciting stuff!
Review: Elektroshok are at it again alongside long term label favourite: The Brainkiller, who returns to the release roster for his brand new single 'Wisdom'. A wash of dark atmospherics run riot around the heavily structured introduction, before descending into a dubstep infused electro meltdown come the drop. Stuttering bass leads writhe away whilst subtle melodies roll into play from the rest of the instrumentation, generating something very cool indeed.
Review: We have been blessed with another gem here as the Elektroshok team join forces with the uniquely gritty production prowess of Illegal Content for a scintillating two tracker. We begin with the title track 'Cosmic Funk' which fuses jazzy elements and pitched up vocal stabs with aggressive reesey leads and punchy drum work. On the flip the funk levels hit overload as smooth horn melodies riff away above skippy bass tones and big room breakbeat patterns. Tasty stuff, perfect for a summer jamboree.
Review: For this explosive single, Face & Book team up with the super impressive Elektroshok imprint, bringing together some seriously cool musical themes. As a recording 'Colorado' is a Goliath, leaping between lethal breakbeat textures and killer UK bass sound design, creating a powerful crossover. We are also lucky enough to be blessed with a Brainkiller remix, who sends the original track to the shredder with his classic combo of pleasing reesey distortion, unique melodies and drum style carnage.
Review: All lasers set to stun, Destroyers returns to his own Elektroshok label with this star-firing electro breaks romp. Packing a barbed wire energy and breakbeat wiliness that's unique to the Spanish scene, the vibe flips between thumping 4/4s and necksnap breaks all the while a menacing broadsword bassline melts and mutates in the thick of the action. Meaty, breakbeaty, this one packs serious heat.
Review: The ever impressive production prowess of Shade K returns to Elektroshok for a funky bonanza entitled 'Play Aggressive'. Between the slapping bass guitars, explosive synthesis and potent drum design, the rhythms run wild alongside raving lasers and break sampling, resulting in a delicious overall arrangement. Breakbeat is well and truly back on the up and it's original recordings such as this that are inspiring such a rapid re-ascension.
Review: Almost a year has passed since do-no-wrong break-splicer Daze Prism last appeared on Elektroshok. Over that time he's released an album on Project Allout and a slew of white hot EPs on the likes of Hot Cakes, Four40 and Southpoint. Now back on the Spanish imprint, he's hurtling at us head-on with two more rampant break outs. "Lonely Souls" surges with heads-down slinkiness and a surging vocal that adds the perfect amount of feels. Meanwhile "Thief" gets all classic Botchit with rasping waspy basslines, breaks so spliced and diced they'd make Detboi blush and a very cheeky vocal sample. Now we're in paradise...
Review: For this one, Miau & Pingueino make a high profile appearance on the Elektroshok imprint for a breaksy roller that goes by the name of 'Tuppa Mukka'. This one is packed with mysterious marvel and dangerous sound design, as well crafted melodic synths play out catchy riffs on top of highly rhythmic drum arrangements and precise vocal slicing. As well as this thick layer of percussive seasoning grace the mix, leaving us with a very groovy final composition.
Review: For this one, Spanish duo Face & Book step out onto the Elektroshok imprint for an intense two track selection. The title track 'Dooby Dooby Doo' is a breakbeat paradise, complete with super catchy percussive lead melodies surrounded by crispy drum processing and synthetic madness. On the flip we have a more electro dubstep inspired arrangement in 'YabbadabbaDoo' which pushes together fantastic bass synth design with smooth breaksy rhythms and catchy lead electronic melodies.
