Spanish techno and house label Elevate was launched in 2012 by Igor Tchkotoua and Dan Duncan aka Pig&Dan. Styles range from Tato’s remix of Pernett’s tropical, tech house groover ‘La Rumba Bacana’ to Ferhat Albayrak’s acid workout ‘Toxid Beats’, Pig&Dan’s trance-tinged techno number ‘Existence’, and the strobe-igniting stomper ‘Underground Floor’ by Dok & Martin.
Review: Following releases on Poker Flat and Crosstown Rebels, the prolific Pig & Dan return to their own label with this high-quality EP. The title track is a hypnotic affair. Led by synths that swirl and flow over a sparse, pulsating groove, its breathy vocal samples and subtle filters make for wonderfully tripped out techno. "Brainfarx" sees the pair opt for a different approach. Powered by a pumping, insistent rhythm and razor-sharp percussive ticks, at its heart is a repetitive tonal sequence that builds with the same intensity as a Sleeparchive track. It makes for a remarkable counterpoint to the title track's esoteric sounds.
