Review: He may be better known for deep and soulful house sounds but Monsieur Jabre seems to have taken a proggier turn of late. 'Samana' itself is served in two flavours here, so you can choose between the Levant Mix, which is utterly synth-tastic, or the Lazare Hoche Edit, which tones the synths down a little and brings the tuff, tribal beat further to the fore. The EP's other original track, 'Far At Sea', is something of an oddball, opening with a chopped-up male vocal that sounds like a Turkish chant before cracking out a slo-mo 80s bassline, falsetto vocal snips and multiple layers of pads and atmospherics.
