Review: Estranged have a habit of pulling together really forward thinking projects, which is most certainly the case here as Josh Scott emerges for his wonderful 'Odyssey' EP, dripping in original dance music energy. The title track 'Odyssey' is a blippy masterpiece, distorting and manipulating stubby percussive instruments to create some incredibly unique rhythmic textures. This theme of unusual percussion then carries over to 'Atom' which time combines subtle pads with minimal melodies with excellent results, before rounding up the project with the more harmonic layering of 'Turmoil'. Quirky & unique, this one gets our full recommendation.
Review: We were very excited to see the latest offering from Estranged as they touch down here for their second full release, this time bringing forward the gnarly arrangements of Near. He lands with three explosive compositions, the first of which is a swampy slow roller entitled 'OT', led by chiming arpeggiators and high pressure subs, chased up by the bouncing drumwork and hypnotic popping repetitions of 'Anonimity'. Finally, we take a look at the intense bass pressure and rolling 808 structures of 'Dem Nah', a tune destined to send dances in a subby daze.
