Review: MCCLXXVIII already has support from big names like Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin and Marcel Dettmann. This is not surprising, as MCCLXXVIII seamlessly blends functionality with a distinctive aesthetic. The title track is a case in point. Its linear, jacking rhythm and firing metallic percussion provide the basis for looped, dubbed out chords. On "Stratified", the sound is grimier. Centred on a rolling groove, deft filters ensure that the electronic riffs hit the target. "Feedback" is more intense, with Dave.LK dropping a driving, visceral rhythm. Flug's remix of the title track also ups the tempo and adds a sense of drama to the original version's dubby chords.

Review: Following on from releases on Drumcode and MindTrip, Sebastian 'Flug' Lopez drops this club-focused four-track EP on his own label. With a focus on the dance floor throughout, Hypenorance covers a range of sounds. "Slow Down" is a robotic, chugging groove. Powered by a steely rhythm and hissing hi hats, it's a sparse but effective dub techno track. "Answers" sees Flug go deeper as atmospheric pads are pared with a wiry rhythm. He also delivers some harder tracks. "Destination Unknown" is a piledriving, peak-time affair, driven by wave upon wave of hissing percussion. The title track is also intense, as cavernous, filtered builds are merged with relentless hi hats for maximum impact.
