Review: Well well well, we were wondering when we would next have the opportunity to take in some fresh Kingdom, a producer known for his forward thinking production style and uniquely crispy finished product. This, the first volume of his new 'Exterra' release project, is the perfect way to summarize his sound, from the frankly stunning stripped back funky collaboration with Tiara Thomas entitled 'High Enough' to the more choppy, breaks driven slices of 'Chizel Cut' alongside MikeQ. The whole project is awesome to keep it simple, with Ms. Boogie joining the fun on the super bouncy title track 'Exterra', along with the percussive genius of 'LLEWXAM' and beautiful soundscaping of 'Azuza'.

Review: Rizzla (real name Brian Friedberg) is a DJ and producer based in Somerville, Massachusetts. His debut album come courtesy of Los Angeles bass heroes Fade To Mind and follows up 2015's Iron Cages - and it has sure been worth the wait. From the jagged and angular exoticism of first teaser "Chainsaw" released a couple of months back, to the bassed-up and bombastic texturisations of "Black Eye" and the pop-inflected bounce of "Be A Boy" (feat. Odile Myrtil) - all in all it is definitely a return to form from this talented producer.

Review: It's back to the future with Massacooramaan right here, with this new EP for Fade To Mind giving grim a whole new texture to play with. Much like the early gear that was promoted by DJs like Plasticman, Drum Fission is an endless reinvention what is possible with a simple set of percussion and bass stomps. The opening "Voltage Slip" is a perfect example of that, a tune which never uses the 'less-is-more' effect, ands the same can be said for the rhythmic bangs of "Exhume", another impressive drum experimentation built from only a few core elements. The likes of "Dautrada" bring in a more tribal rhythm to the picture, while "Hyper Garrote" finishes off with one final stab to the gut, in the form of some pretty devilish drum stabs. This be some Darth Vader bass!

Review: Forgotten Light man Leonce Nelson made his name by creating bespoke, off-kilter hip-hop and bass-heavy R&B remixes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Keyshia Cole. Here, he delivers his debut album, Insurgency. It's a pleasingly entertaining and varied affair that moves from the foreboding melodic motifs and bustling drums of "Snakes" to the UK funky influenced hustle of "Truffle Track", via a series of hard-to-pigeonhole cuts that draw inspiration from various hip-hop and electronica styles. Highlights include the booming, tropical influenced percussion and humid melodies of "Marimba Track", the undulating and bass heavy intensity of "Jungle" and the upbeat, carnival-friendly celebration that is "Apparition"
