Moments & Memories (Random Movement remix) - (5:35) 175 BPM
Review: Longstanding Bristol soul merchant Blade teams up with budding label Flight Pattern for three supreme slices of rolling gold. "Universal Rhythm" is a straight up salute to Bukem with more classic D&B references than you can count on two hands and feet. "What Do You Want" tips a nod to the early 2000s liquid days with its filtered sample lapping away gently while "Moments & Memories" does a really cool spectrum thing where a string sample is sent pinging side to side over rattling drums. Looking for a touch more beef? Jump on Random Movement's remix for a true moment.
Review: Random Movement's Flight Pattern records is a breeding ground for the next generation of top liquid talent. It's consistently one of the best small labels in the game and this release from Soul Method is no different, consisting of four stellar cuts that land on the lighter side of the spectrum. 'Jaz' is definitely a highlight, with funky brass overtones and a bubbling, expansive set of synths that inject a whole load of groove and atmosphere into the tune. It sounds a bit like Random Movement, and we're definitely into it. 'Mesmerised' is really good as well - check it out.
Review: Random Movement & Jaybee: two of America's most respected roller craftsmen colliding for four tracks. You already know this is going to bump from these facts alone. Now consider the sounds; the rising havoc and brock-out behaviour of "Hit The Ground Running", the jazzy, Creative Source style swing and cheeky rising riff of "Starving For Gold" the swashbuckling drums and housey chords of "Twice The Power", the soft jazzy tones, dreamy keys and subtle-but-weird-as-hell bass licks of "Well That's Fun", the smile on your face when you rewind every single one of them. Precision business.
