Review: That mischievous anon character Unknown Artists gets busy with more hot versions on Fokuz and they're perfect for the forthcoming sunny season. Each one sassy, soulful, sexy and reflective in equal measure, we don't need to tell you who's being remixed here as it's pretty obvious, but 'Teardrop' is guaranteed lighters galore and 'That Once' takes a well-known Queen to such powerful junglistic places you'll find it hard to ever look at the original again. 'Honey' also sees another Queen being taken to some sweet, sweet places, making sure RnB and soul heads of all ages are catered for. Delicious.
Review: As teased by his EP release last year, Good Looking Records legend Blade is dropping a brand new album that embraces his near 30 year tenure as a soulful dnb craftsman. As the title suggests, 'Then & Now' is a timeless body of work that focuses on nothing but the groove. Highlights include the jazzy piano ebb and flow of 'Cre-8-or', the raw funk and swing of 'Third Bounce' and the spacious simplicity of 'Friends' but that's really just a small taster of the full banquet on offer here... It's clear Blade is still as sharp as he's ever been. If not sharper.
Review: Some big RnB flavours right here from the mysterious / notorious / hyper-prolific anonymous producer Unknown Artist. Nothing is left off the table as some big cuts go under UA's knife and get flipped into modern D&B jungle tunes. For obvious reasons we won't go into too many details but 'Flights Booked' carries the distinctively processed vocals of a certain male duck, 'All I Need' will Turner many heads and the volume on 'Blue Dream' should be set to Max. Well, that just leaves us a line about 'Selfish'. Big vibes.
Review: Get to know WUFO, the relatively new alias from London-based producer previously known as Noxive. Taking his sound deeper and deeper with every dispatch, 'Crossroads' is his most considered and contemplative collection to date as he guides us along his solemn soulful thoughts. Highlights include the winter-crisp reflection and clarity of 'Slow Burn', the staccato notes and introspective vocals on 'Who You Are' and the breath-taking title track 'Crossroads'. Beautiful.
