Review: Coming up next from the Freshly Squeezed machine, we explore the future of disco as Yabloko Moloko arrives in style, unloading a spicy seven track collection, rammed full of original swing energy. Opening up with the sweetened bass grooves of 'One Step Beyond' and the 50's-inspired jazz insteps of 'Take That', we know we are in for a treat from the jump, as the tasteful piano riffs of 'Caramelo' and potent glitchy melodies of 'Rumble Disco Machine' then follow swiftly. From here, bulbous bass displays and distant brassy badness arrives on 'Blue Velvet', with the horn driven sweeps of 'Grace's Secret' and sizzling high end horn runs of 'Infinite Jazz' then giving us a powerful pair of closers. Lovely work!

Review: Quite what Marlene Dietrich would make of electro-swing is anyone's guess, but the sounds here on Freshly Squeezed's latest evoke the era of that formidable icon. This label has been at the forefront of this movement for many years and in between tours and programming festival stages from Glasto to Bestival they have a real knack for the sound. Here we have three floor-friendly cuts - Wolfgang Lohr tackles vintage Louis Prima for the stomping flaming trumpets of "Flat Foot Floogie". Elsewhere Osundi go slow and raunchy whilst Swing Republic keep the pace with the sleazy headnodder "My Daddy Rocks Me".

Review: A lot has changed in the world of music since Freshly Squeezed dropped the first installment of their eponymous label compilation back in 2013. For one, the term electro-swing has become a household name with even the UK Eurovision entry adopting this musical style. Still, this label is where you get the real stuff and here we are treated to another 15 examples. Highlights include the attitude-heavy, dubstep-flecked "Swing Ya Beard" by JFB & Beardyman, Jem Stone's big beat bouncer "Be Bop 2 Hip Hop" and the tough house slammer "Lick The Spoon" by Foxy Cheex & Jem Stone.

Review: The Swing Bot - a masked French producer who made his name with re-edits of Glenn Miller and Edith Piaf, took the leap into original productions in 2018 and has been a stalwart of the electroswing scene ever since - impresses greatly with this debut full-length for Brighton's Freshly Squeezed. Opener 'Waves Of 84', for instance, carries echoes of early DJ Sneak in its dusty trumpet snatches, while the quirky, jazzy leftfield pop of 'Flowers' would, in any sane world, be heading straight for the Top 40. Sure, there are plenty of standard issue oompah-loompah beats and looped-up horns (see 'Dizzy Street' or 'The Tailor') but by casting his net just a little wider,The Swing Bot marks himself out as a talent to keep an eye on.

Review: Sicilian duo Swingrowers follow up their eponymous 2012 debut album with this life-affirmin collection of wholesome swing and innocent party insinuations. Riddled with big organic instrumentation and Lorendana's emphatic, gutsy vocals, each cut tells its own tale. From the unashamed confidence and insistent rhythm & blues vibes of "That's Right" to the jazzier, piano-stroking jauntiness of "Frank" via the softer, more electronic tendencies of "Break Out", Remote is the sound of a band maturing at a rapid pace. Swing bands are a dime a dozen, but genuinely good swing bands are rarer than a platinum accordion.
