Review: Taking a break from dropping dancefloor bombs via his own imprint, Up The Stuss, Chris Stussy pops up on FUSE London for the first time. The headline attraction is undoubtedly 'From The Delicate Mist of Morning', a techno tempo tech-house workout that comes complete with melancholic melodies, deep sub-bass and cascading synthesiser motifs. Huerta provides the obligatory remix, opting for a more dubby bassline, sweat-soaked percussion and gentle, sunrise-ready acid motifs. Elsewhere, 'Midtown Playground' is a hazy and rolling tech-house box jam, 'Blueprint' is darker and bolder with sharper riffs, and 'Mythical Power' is a pleasingly psychedelic workout blessed with seriously weighty bass and 4/4 garage-influenced beats.
Review: You'll struggle to find a more experienced and rock-solid duo than old friends Mr G and Duncan Forbes, both of whom have production histories stretching back to the early '90s. Their collaborative releases - especially this year's 'All Under One Moon' album - are always a treat, and this four-tracker is no exception. 'Time To Dip' is a tough and surging affair featuring the triple attractions of wobbly sub-bass, fizzing stabs and glassy-eyed vocal snippets, while 'All Night' is a deeper and more locked-in affair tailor-made for heads-down moments. Forbes provides alternative versions of both tunes: a stirring "Sherbert Dip" version of 'Time To Dip' that doffs a cap to his days as part of '90s prog house act Spooky, while the "In The Zone" mix of 'All Night' is a deep, chunky and immersive roller.
Review: Two long-serving tech-house talents join forces for the first time, as Romanian scene stalwart Cristi Cons and French powerhouse Traumer lay down a trio of tasty tracks. They set the tone via title track 'Stranger To No One', an undulating and hypnotising beast in which progressively more intense TB-303 'acid' lines, spacey textures and echoing synth riffs rise above a rolling, loose-limbed groove. On 'Apres Midi', they layer more squelchy acid bass and psychedelic motifs atop hip-swinging grooves and foreboding melodic motifs, before rounding off the EP with the subtly breakbeat-tinged early morning tech-house of 'Farside'.
