Review: A round of applause for Dave Harvey's Futureboogie label, which is closing its doors after a decade in which it's releases got stronger and more varied year on year. This superb compilation acts as the imprint's final testament, offering no less than 20 previously unheard nuggets from the Bristol-based imprint's nearest and dearest. Given the wealth of high-grade material on show, singling out highlights is tough, but our current favourites include the echoing,'80s alternative pop-meets-proto house dubbiness of Tech Support's 'Writers Block', the alien synths, glassy-eyed stabs and bustling electro drums of Warehouse Preservation Society's 'Ron's House', the kaleidoscopic house psychedelia of Manami's 'Nacros.Is', the bleeping, drug-fuelled oddness of Chez De Milo's 'Need Someone' and the breakbeat-acid insanity of Hard Ton's 'Don't Believe The Hype'.

Review: And you don't stop. Futureboogie outta Bristol continue their domination of west-country house tempos and disco vibes with a A Summer Riot IX (Part 2)! Topping this selection of artists is PBR Streetgang who go there again in offering the world another take of that "I Feel Love" bassline while "Pigeon St" by Jakobin keeps it real with a cooling deep house jam done Chicago style to balance out any floor. Lithuania's Roe Deers has been tapped up with a lo-fi-funk and percussive electro number "Monkey Dance" while there's some gnarly acid and groove box action in Christophe's main course: "Critters 2 (The Revenge)". Little known entity Acolyte turns in a highlight with some dubbed-out house nuance in "Fire In Zero Gravity" alongside Manakinz' hall of mirrors tripper "Mystic Throbber." I predict a riot!

Review: Bristol disco stalwarts Futureboogie bring us an EP from Hungary's Andras 'Gensi' Genser that features a brace of remixes from London lad Decius. The original of 'Primavera 707' is a dreamy 'nu-disco meets melodic/organic house' affair that's served up with or without a female vocal in an unidentified language - Portuguese, maybe? Decius's remix takes the track down a more Afro-inspired route with busy, shuffling percussion and a male vocal, though again a Dub is also available. Elsewhere, 'Humble Brush' is an energetic nu-disco instrumental, while 'The Great Body Buzz' is the finest cosmic-acid meltdown you'll hear all week.

Review: Pre-pandemic, James Dyer was a rising star on the Bristol club scene, with a trademark sound that tended towards the cosmic, chugging and otherworldly. Here he makes his production bow as Chez de Milo on local label Futureboogie, beginning brilliantly with the throbbing, paranoid and wide-eyed 'Bushwa', where intense, undulating acid lines, bleeping melodies and seriously spooky pads bubble away atop a thrusting, bass-heavy groove. His love of bleeps and ambient techno era electronics is further explored on 'Mantella' and the more dubbed-out, sub-heavy trip that is 'Golden Ratio'. Also worth a listen is the Smagghe & Cross version of 'Bushwa', which features two long dark and driving sections of trippy dancefloor pleasure divided by a brilliantly bizarre ambient breakdown.

Review: Without fail, Futureboogie Recordings' annual "Summer Riot" EPs are always amongst the Bristol-based imprint's finest releases of the year. This year's edition - the eight in total - is no different. It's five floor-friendly cuts include a locked-in chunk of late night techno hypnotism by A Sagittarian (undulating opener "Machine Elf"), a raw and wonky, mind-altering analogue house jam full of Yellow Magic Orchestra style computer bleeps (Red Flower Union's "Natural Self") and a piano-sporting chunk of old school house revivalism from Statue ("Ivory"). Manchester producer Neil Diablo hits the spot with the starburst Italo-disco chug of "Colorado", while Kincaid gleefully dances through New York freestyle and Bobby Orlando style hi-NRG on EP standout "Bulfas".

Review: Crazy P main man James Baron returns under his Ron Basejam alias, with more liquid nu-disco jams. Started as a casual side project 12 years ago, Baron wanted to 'capture the more diverse and quirky sides of his musical tastes', creating underground music that he incorporates with character, personality and humour. The After The Rain EP sees him return to Bristol institution Futureboogie, for the first time since 2016's "The Carrington Spirituals". Featuring the very soulful and near spiritual title track, the lo-slung funk attack of "The French Exit " and the late night acid express of "Raise" (featuring some vocals reminiscent of the legendary Daryl Pandy) among others - each one is a a sure shot and will light up the dancefloor.

Review: Tranquil Elephantizer have been releasing music since the mid-90s, and the influence from this period is audible on the two versions of the title track. Peppered with acid pulses and ponderous vocals, both the 'Waning' and 'Waxing' takes recall the lazy, hazy days of the free party scene. "Sugarlump" is cut from similar cloth; while it is not known whether its title refers to the famed sound system from that period, the powerful low end and trippy synths transport the listener back to those more carefree days. In contrast, "Slow Brew" is slower and dreamier, the perfect antidote to these dance floor-focused, acid-soaked tracks.

Review: Chameleonic producer Jabru and label hopping bass producer Hackman come together to form the snappily named Bruh Jackman with this platter for Bristol's Futureboogie imprint. The duo is clearly mindful of Julio Bashmore's success since his Futureboogie releases a while back as this three track EP contains a healthy dose of soulful vibes. Lead track "Miss My Love" is a dusty little number with snapping percussion augmented by lush chiming melodies but dominated by that uplifting vocal. The brilliantly titled Joel Culpepper lends some real soul to "California", a glistening, laid back ride through seductive neo-R&B that justifies the vocalist's comparison's to Frank Ocean whilst "Just To Keep" can be filed alongside the current crop of vocal hook heavy, melodic deep house.

Review: Lo-fi synth maestro Ruf Dug has cordially invited us to take a short stay on "Ruffy's Island", a lesser-known tropical paradise nestled somewhere between Manchester and Madagascar. To get a better view, he first invites us to dance along aboard his "Boat Party", where cheery lead lines skip around a crackling analogue groove. Next up is guided tour of the island's "Techno Cave", a dark place where you're encouraged to dance shirtless to the accompaniment of tribal drum samples, foreboding riffs and mind-altering electronics. Lurking towards the back is Sharif Laffrey, who guides us through ten minutes of stomping beats, weirdo riffs and glassy-eyed jacking intensity. The highlight of the trip, though, may well be "Abandoned Pyramid", a dubbed-out chunk of tropical synthesizer madness constructed in cahoots with Contours.

Review: Curiously, Warehouse Preservation Society's slim discography contains numerous acclaimed remixes for labels such as Rogue Cat Sounds and Wicked, but only one original production - a contribution to a multi-artist EP on Love on the Rocks. 'Endlessly', then, is their debut single - and very good it is too. In its original form, the track is druggy, trippy and seeped in old school nostalgia, with tactile synthesizer motifs and stabbing electronic motifs rising above a psychedelic, acid-style bassline and metronomic drums. 'Dublessly' is even sleazier and darker in tone, offering a superb, warehouse-ready alternative. 'Don't Mess My Head' is more percussive but no less dirty, doffing a cap to both proto-house and NYC freestyle, while Dave Aju's electro-influenced remix is even more sweaty, bass-heavy and drum-laden.

Review: Futureboogie's annual Summer Riot EP rarely disappoints. This year's instalment of the multi-artist extravaganza - the fifth in totak - is every bit as essential as its' predecessors. Long time friend of the family Bonar Bradberry steps up first with "Analogue Express", where bubbly synthesizer lead lines rub shoulders with Chicken Lips style bass and rich, life-affirming piano chords. Experienced Italian DJ Rocca fuses brain-melting acid lines, dark electronics and African influences on the wonky "Voodoo", before former Fila Brazillia man Steve Cobby drops a lolloping chunk of audible sunshine in the shape of "Lefthanded Books". Arguably best of all, though, is Field Theory's "Rituals", a swirling fusion of dreamy deep house, mind-altering acid, and warehouse-friendly rhythms.

Review: Given their extensive shared musical history and influences, you'd expect this hook-up between former Classic/Music For Freaks types Luke Solomon and Jonny Rock to contain some belting cuts. Predictably, it does. Dancefloor sweatiness is guaranteed from the start, via the undulating, Moroder-inspired bass guitar, spacey electronics, clipped guitars and dense disco percussion of "Luca Frangipan", and its' suitably trippy, more heavily electronic companion Dub. There's a breezier, looser feel to "Groovin' To La", which expertly teases out soulful vocal samples and soaring strings atop a bouncy Italo-disco/deep house/classic disco fusion groove. The accompanying Dub mix is, if anything, even stronger. Sadly, this digital version of the EP doesn't feature DJ Fett Burger & Jayda G's killer remix, so you'll have to buy the 12" to get that.

Review: Given that he's been involved in shaping the artistic direction of the label from the very start, it seems fitting that graphic designer-turned-producer Christophe should have the honour of delivering Futureboogie's 50th release. There's an argument to say that it's his strongest release to date, too; certainly, the fizzing, saucer-eyed Acid-jack of "Dance Pants" and throbbing, low-slung, late night disco-acid of "Caravanaramabar" come straight from the top drawer. The Bristol-based Welshman showcases his love of dreamy, fluttering slow jams via the drawn-out Balearic climax of "Savanna", before tipping a wink to the twin attractions of acid-flecked Italian dream house and stripped-back electrofunk on high-grade closer "Key Largo".

Review: With an intrinsic link to the Futureboogie crew in the live arena, long-serving UK house crew Crazy P bring their broad sound to the label with gusto, maximising on the skills the component member possess. Most apparent of these is Danielle Moore with her arresting croon shining through the most on "Clouds", and also popping up in snippet form on "Burning". There is a spread of different moods at work across the tracks from seedy electro tones on the first track to the sizzling disco flavour of "Virtuality", leaving plenty of room for Outboxx to lay down a blissful slice of keys-rich deep house in their inimitable style.

Review: Having recently impressed with a delightful Faith Evans bootleg, mysterious Bristol-based combo Behling & Simpson (a new pseudonym for a well-known production duo) make their full debut on hometown imprint Futureboogie. It's arguably Futureboogie's best yet, a delicious four-tracker of slow house and bumpin' midtempo grooves that simply bleeds Bristol. Of the four cuts, it's the low, slow grooves and cut-up R&B vocals of "UFO" that most impresses (inspired, incidentally, by the Bristol club night of the same name), though the dubwise "Yenisei" and dreamy "Left Behind" are almost as good.

Review: NYC-based Bristol exile Milo Johnson AKA DJ Nature has long enjoyed a good relationship with Futureboogie Recordings, having first provided remix services for the West Country label back in 2013. This, though, is still his first EP for Dave Harvey's imprint. His loose, groovy and jazz-flecked style of deep house naturally comes to the fore on warm and melodious opener "Born Lifted", while the slightly more driving, sample-heavy "My Life" recalls his early '90s work as Nature Boy. "What Isn't" is a dusty deep house producer's take on electro-tinged instrumental hip-hop (reflective of his '80s work as part of Massive Attack's Wild Bunch collective) while "Loving You More" cannily joins the dots between lo-fi deep house, Balearic dreaminess and classic jazz-funk.

Review: Australian oddball producer Dreems breaks away from his usual home; Thomas Von Party's Multi Culti imprint, for an appearance on Bristol institution Futureboogie with the Studio Glucose EP, where he collaborates with buddy Jamie Blanco from London. On "Percussive Racing Cars" the pair reference classic Chicago deep house, complete with Juno 106 and 303 basslines but with a modern twist. "Party Mix" goes for some woozy, groovy, tribal tech house geared for the late night or afterhours while "Red Frog, Green Frog" goes for a strange 80s/balearic tinged groove that many other Australian producers in Berlin are doing at present. There's also a brilliant remix of "Percussive Racing Cars" by Israeli man of the moment Moscoman, giving it a dusty and rusty acid house makeover.

Review: Under the Natural Sugars alias, Bristol-based DJ/producer Tim Oxley Smith has previously delivered tasty chuggers and cosmic groovers on a couple of Invisible Inc compilations. This debut EP for home city label Futureboogie Recordings is therefore well deserved. It's also rather good. The star of the show is undoubtedly "Zombie Jungle", a druggy chunk of space disco whose low-slung mid-tempo groove comes smothered in alien-sounding synthesizer lead lines and lashings of bonus percussion. Manfredas turns that into a rushing sprint through throbbing Italo-disco/nu-disco fusion, before Oxley Smith offers up the spaced-out dub disco chug of "The Soothsayer" and the undeniably cosmic shuffle of "Sarsen Trail". As debut singles go, it's a doozy.

Review: Sometime Roam Recordings and Nein artist Zakmina has been rather quiet of late, so this outing on Bristol's increasingly assured Futureboogie Recordings label is long overdue. Titke track 'Church of Madness' is pleasingly psychedelic and mind-altering, with the publicity-shy producer layering trippy acid lines, ghostly chords and wayward electronic motifs atop a chugging, Moroder style bassline and early '80s machine drums. On his accompanying 'Ezoteric Breakdance Remix', Hungarian producer Gnork re-imagines the track as a melancholic chunk of eccentric dancefloor electro. Elsewhere, 'D?j? vu' is a foreboding, strobe-lit acid chugger capable of inducing hallucinations, while 'Running Amore' is a hedonistic, timbales-sporting late-night throb-job.

Review: Futureboogie's annual multi-artist EP has become as big a part of our summer as tedious festival queues, soggy outdoor parties and complaining about the British weather. Label stalwart Christophe kicks off this sixth edition via the clattering machine drums, glistening Balearic flourishes and thrillingly psychedelic acid lines of "West Side Critters", before Zombies in Miami go all Eastern on the sitar-sporting house exotica of "The Legends of the Hidden Temple". There's more of a sun-warmed Balearic feel to the shuffling beats, tumbling chords and jangling pianos of Forriner's tasty "Spero", while Yuki Tosaya steals the show with "Acid Dawn Breaks", which is the kind of saucer-eyed, sunrise thriller that was all the range back at the turn of the '90s.

Review: Anyone who has been to Oban on the North West coast of Scotland will confirm that it's a rather picturesque place. We shouldn't be surprised, then, by the intense beauty that courses through "Music Will Save The Day", the first Austin Ato release by experienced Oban-based producer Colin Bailey (he of Drums of Death fame). Skillfully combining chiming bells, meandering synthesizer lines, crunchy drums and sparkling piano riffs, "Music Will Save The Day", which is available in both Dub and Vocal variants, is something of a summery treat. It's backed by two terrific remixes: a kind of Reichian minimalism meets new age version by Auntie Flo, and a thrilling peak-time take from label regular Christophe, who joins the dots between jacking acid and hands-aloft piano house.

Review: Having spent the last few years quietly building his reputation via decent EPs for ESP Institute, Saft and Keep it Zen, Ian Blevins has had a relatively quiet 2017. This outing on Dave Harvey's Futureboogie Recordings label is only his second release of the year. It is, though, rather good, with Blevins gleefully sprinting between acid-flecked, Italo-disco inspired Balearic house (tidy opener "Round Trip"), rush inducing, organ and acid-driven positivity ("Roland's Rat") and rolling, slow-building late night goodness (the bubbly melodies and elongated chords of "Can You Count My Dream"). The obligatory remix is provided by Lobster Theremin and Uncanny Valley regular Panthera Krause, whose Moroder-on-happy tablets version of "Round Trip" is a warm, hazy and life-affirming delight.

Review: Under the Ponty Mython alias, experienced producer Alexander Pletnev can usually be relied upon to hit the spot. Happily, we can confirm that his latest EP - his second for Bristol's Futureboogie Recordings - is another strong effort. He begins by wrapping some alien sounding synthesizer lead lines and quirky electronic ticks around a swinging, breakbeat influenced groove on "Speak For Yourself", before repeating the trick on the more bass-heavy and tropical tinged "Barocco". EP highlight "Jealous Lover" is a wonderfully bleeping, analogue-rich chunk of intergalactic deep house, while Jonny Rock's remix of the same track is a sweaty, out-of-this-world party jam laden with dub delay, analogue dub bass and trippy effects.

Review: Alexander Pletnev aka Ponty Mython is originally from Russia, but is currently settled in Vilnius, Lithuania. His releases have popped up on top labels such as Dirt Crew, Nurvous and Quintessentials in recent times - and he can now add Bristolian tastemakers Futureboogie to that list. His sleek nu-disco style of groove as heard on "Pink Tango" is a neon-lit, lo-slung balearic groove for Summertime cocktail parties. Injecting more of an '80's flavour into it is Fabrizio Mammarella (one half of Black Spuma with Lauer) working his retroverted magic as always and jam packed full of vintage synth presents. From something different, Pletnev offers up the tropical vibe of "Appreciate It While It's Not Too Late" (original mix) and its mesmerising marimba action that makes you wish you had a hammock and Pina Colada in hand.

Review: Magic Feet boss Craig Bratley is not the most prolific producer in the world, but his sporadic EPs are usually excellent. Certainly, this outing on Futureboogie Recordings contains some superb music. Pulsating opener "99.9" - a body-jacking, Italo-influenced throb-job high on horror-influenced synthesizer melodies and foreboding riffs - is particularly potent, though wholehearted Italo-disco tribute "Italo Love" and the slo-mo chug-fest "Take Me To Bedford or Lose Me Forever" are almost as good. The EP also includes a sublime interpretation of "99.9%" by Andrew Weatherall, whose stretched-out take places exotic, snaking synth lines and yelping vocal samples over a Love From Outer Space-ready pitched-down groove.

Review: After delivering an impressive contribution to Futureboogie Recordings' recent Summer Riot IV release, Phil Gerus has been given the chance to showcase his wares with an EP all of his own. He impresses from the off, effortlessly fusing classic house vocal samples, rubbery boogie bass and spacey synth flourishes on the superb "One More Button Down". Gerus then doffs a cap to 80s electro and space-funk on the wobbly "Better Sing It To Me First", before charging off on a sparse electrofunk-meets-rolling house tip on the brilliantly flexible "She Rides Shotgun". He argiuably saves the best till last, though, with the Chicken Lips-meets-Serious Intetion style proto house-meets-electro business of "Now Is Gone".

Review: The secret of Outboxx's success is undoubtedly the combination of Hodge's instinctive production - few have such an easy way with rhythm, build and release - and Matthew Lambert's effortless musicality. The latter's skills come to the fore on the brilliant title track, where luscious Rhodes, buzzing synthesizer lines and rubbery bass combine to make the deep house equivalent of killer jazz-funk. Almost even better is the fizzing, piano-laden goodtime jam "Gift of Life" - this time featuring regular vocalist Naomi Jeremy - while opener "Day One" has the feel of an eyes-closed, Adriatic anthem (it was, no doubt, created with The Garden Festival in mind). Best of all, though, is "Closing Titles", which glistens, throbs and, most crucially, entertains, from start to finish.

Review: Getting his name out there following a single on Winding Road Records in 2013, Lonely Boy is making his intentions clear on this single for Futureboogie. The LA-based producer has a strong handle on the kind of sleazy, four-to-the-floor house music that the Bristolian label favours, and the title-track delivers on every level. "The Subtle Frenzy" has a powerful emotive streak at the core of its own fuzzy synth lines, while "Take Your Time" drifts into slower, more thoughtful territory to show there's more than one side to this boogie-loving beatsmith. The Emperor Machine, meanwhile, whips up a chunky electro-house version of "I Like Disco" that adds a little more meat for the more pumped-up dancefloors.

Review: Bristol's premier bastion of boogie inflected house music continues unabated with this release from central label figure Christophe. Bringing in the vocals of Danielle Moore, "Comeback" is a refreshing departure from the sample ripping techniques most use and in the process of originality brings a curious Detroit romanticism into the 80s electro funk context. Casino Times switch up into a more straight-up deep house groove that chugs away dutifully, while Christophe brings his regular cohort Lukas on board for a 'mastermix' that further builds on the Detroit tones with a serious Inner City flavoured version. The instrumental of the original rounds the package off nicely with a greater focus on those dirty funk elements of yesteryear that never grow old.

Review: Having previously impressed with 2012 releases on Wolf Music and Losing Suki, James Welsh continues his ascent towards deep house superstardom with a typically fluid and atmospheric EP for Futureboogie. "Craven" sets the tone, lacing a touchy-feely, tactile house groove with tough 808 cowbells and an intoxicating vocal sample. Regular collaborator Terri Walker makes an appearance on the shuffling, cymbal-heavy old skool garage jam "King Edward Street", while "Bill Murray Came To My House Party" largely lives up to its riotous title. "Horse Fight", with its minor key chords and sprightly synth bass, also hits the spot.

Review: It's been a while since Bristol's Luke Turner last released new material, with his most recent outing on Futureboogie (the Maison De Cheval project with fellow West Country dweller Christophe) appearing way back in 2011. Happily, Back To Boogie finds him in good form, delivering a series of vividly coloured house gems. There's the wide-eyed, bright-and-breezy piano house pomp of "Narwhals", the cowbell-laden late night science of electrofunk-meets-deep house jam "Bassoon" and the woozy sax, tumbling chords and booming bass of the sensual "Drunken Master" (complete with a vocal sample from a familiar favourite). If that wasn't enough, he also drops some pitched-down vocals, spooky melodies and sub-bothering rhythms on the intoxicating "Is It True?"

Review: Given their regular appearances at Futureboogie events, it's no surprise to find Bristol-based deep house duo Outboxx popping up on El Harvo and Joe 90's imprint. The Fade EP is perhaps not as drop-dead gorgeous as their sublime, self-titled debut LP on Idle Hands, but it's still packed with the sort of warm, undulating, floor-friendly grooves that should get any deep house lover's nether regions tingling. The sublime "Need You" - all gigantic pads, touchy-feely vocal cuts, liquid bass and sturdy beats - is probably the highlight, though the electrofunk-influenced, proto-meets-contemporary goodness of "Rikkis Groove" isn't far behind. Really, though, all four tracks are top notch. In fact, it's one of Futureboogie's strongest releases to date.

Review: Futureboogie's annual Summer Riot series is usually a reliable source of extra-spicy material that's sent dancefloors into raptures during the Bristol crew's numerous festival sets. This third instalment is no different. Perhaps the most startling including is "Red Road", an authentic chunk of disco-boogie (complete with Chic style guitars, rubbery bass and cheeky pianos) from Back to Basics resident Buckley. Really, it's superb - one of the best new straight-up disco tracks we've heard in a while. Elsewhere, local lads Outboxx drop a chunk of loved-up deep house, Waifs and Strays impress with the bubbly, powdery "Now Come", and newcomer Kemback goes all dreamy and delicious on the pleasingly wide-eyed "Mistake".

Review: Having previously appeared on similarly hyped house label Wolf Music, South African producer Terrence Pearce is an excellent addition to the Futureboogie roster. Here, he supplies the Bristol-based label with a quartet of decidedly positive tracks. There's something for everyone, from the rumbling low-end pulse and saucer-eyed rave riffage of "Kings N Queens" and sparkling, hip-hop sampling deepness of "Up and Down", to the rush-inducing, sax-laden powdered deep house of "Halcyon". "Poise", a blossoming exercise in the simple joys of melody, is also pretty tasty.

Review: Surprisingly, this Futureboogie label debut is Toby Tobias's first single since 2018. He's clearly been in fine form in the studio, though, because it contains some real gems. Title track "Trippy Steve" is terrific - a heady, relentless late night/early morning house workout full of deep bass, weird noises, spaced-out chords, dubbed-out synthesizer motifs and whispered vocal snippets. Fantastic Man remixes, beefing up the beats and adding some aggressive, acid-syle sleaziness. Elsewhere, "Cosmic Slang" sits alone somewhere between space disco, electro and broken beat (it's a place other producers should visit more often) while "Deo Mort" is the kind of mind-altering Afro-cosmic house workout you'd expect to hear at a remote outdoor free party while off your box at 6am (assuming, of course, the DJs involved have good taste).

Review: Brussels-born DC Salas has been in good form in 2021, with this outing on Dave Harvey's Futureboogie imprint following well-received EPs on Pets Recordings and Live From Robert Johnson. Salas sets his stall out on title track 'The Weight of Uncertainty', an echoing, faintly funky slab of proto-house/Italo-disco/acid house fusion full of sweaty drums, fuzzy bass and spacey synth sounds. French great I:Cube weighs in with a predictably impressive remix that takes the track even further into deep space via swirling chords, ambient house sonics and Kraftwerk-esque bleeps. Elsewhere on the EP, 'Gliding Future' sounds like a pitched-down Nitzer Ebb jam from 1988 and 'They Don't See It' joins the dots between new beat and early acid house.

Review: Futureboogie's recent move towards embracing the more cosmic, mind-altering and psychedelic side of the house and disco spectrum has resulted in a string of must-check EPs. Their latest missive, which comes courtesy of former Disco Halal contributor Kincaid, is another. For us, the undisputed highlight is "Voices From The Year 3000", a hallucinatory chunk of slow house hedonism propelled forwards by angular acid lines, acid-trip electronics and feverish analogue synthesizer motofs. The track that follows, "Entrance", is if anything even more trippy, with dark aural textures, sparse percussion hits and intergalactic acid motifs sashaying around a deep electro groove. Lead cut "Provincial Disturbance" is rather good, too - think snappy electro meets chugging dark disco - while Steve Urulu's remix of the same track is an insanely bass-heavy, bleep-inspired techno treat.

Review: Four cuts here from Mexico's Mateo Gonzalez - better known as Theus Mago - that will suit those who like their disco on the more electronic/leftfield/experimental side. Opener 'Apache Nights', for instance, owes far more to bleep techno and the early Warp sound than it does to the likes of (say) Chic or Earth Wind & Fire, while the accompanying Chicken Lips re-rub comes on like Kraftwerk jamming with Rennie Pilgrem. 'Piu Mosso' is a more straight-up homage to early 80s Euro/Italo disco and centres around an infectious, Arabic-sounding hook, while finally closer 'Sergio Ramos' could work in disco/Italo/EBM and progressive house sets alike.

Review: Since moving to New York in the '90s, Bristol-born Milo Johnson has specialized in making raw, dusty, off-kilter deep house workouts that draw heavily on obscure samples from his epic record collection. The former Wild Bunch DJ is at it again here on another strong outing for Futureboogie Recordings. Check first the spacey, dubbed-out chords, booming bass and sweaty disco drums of "A Moment", before admiring the suitably wonky minor key synthesizer solos that help make "Siliconada" one of his wildest house tracks yet. The "NBs Mix" of the same track adds a little soulful flava into the mix via a variety of jazz-funk samples, while "Flutter" is a low-end heavy chunk of loopy disco-house for the dystopian generation
