Phadix & Sublimit - "Crazy" - (4:24) 175 BPM
Review: Phadix has taken over the controls on the Time To Shine series and it's coming out on G13, and whilst we hope that this release has actually been authorised, considering how naughty it is it looks likely to shine. This is a jump-up influenced release but it's also minimal and stripped back with a noticeable element of industrial sonics, especially in track one 'Sure Way', which is both eerie and rolling in all the right ways. 'Eternal' is another highlight and is also a rolling little number with a wicked set of drums, a track that's then followed up by 3 equally good dancefloor tunes. One for the heads.

Smash The Gaff - (3:39) 175 BPM
Area 51 - (4:26) 175 BPM
Wonderland - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: There's no doubting the fact that there's been a distinctive stylistic movement within D&B in the past couple of years, a noticeable strand of the scene that's cultivated a particular style of sharp-edged yet rough rollers. Nu Elementz is an obvious example, but Alphaze is landing in a similar vein here with a fiery five-tracker than hits hard- seriously hard. 'Wonderland' exemplifies the bare-bones approach taken here and its works well as its gargantuan main bassline reverberates across the range with the desired effect. 'Smash The Gaff' keeps it low-key on the introduction with funky sampling, before a siren-like back end brings the tune home with wailing force.

Obbley & Dub Sense - "F Society" (feat MC Mel) - (3:44) 175 BPM
Obbley & Latte - "What's Up" - (3:50) 175 BPM
Review: G13 are here with their latest release for the newly upon us Autumn season, an EP from Obbley in the sixth instalment of their Time To Shine series. This label always - repeat, ALWAYS - bring out the goods with their tunes and this release is no different, sitting very nicely in the modern, up-to-date brand of attitude-filled D&B pioneered by the likes of Serum and Bou. 'BAnimal' exemplifies this perfectly, with a rough and diving bassline that will definitely sit well with the discerning D&B head. 'What's Up' is another creative cut, its spooky bassline definitely setting it apart from others. A shoutout to MC Mel on 'F Society' as well for some great MC work.

The Binary Codes EP
Binary Codes - (4:39) 175 BPM
Coopers Smile - (3:40) 175 BPM Hot
Monsta - (4:23) 175 BPM
Vendetta - (4:26) 175 BPM
Review: Filthy Habits? We wouldn't be surprised if Filthy Habits himself had a few of those, not just because it's in his name but because of how downright filthy his tunes are. 'Binary Codes' is a rush of pitched-up deathy synths that rolls out at max speed and with zero sense of giving a fuck about, well, anything really. All the other tunes on this release are in the same vein, and 'Vendetta' smacks of old school Sub Zero with its stabby approach to crafting basses. This is a solid release from two producers who have been on the up recently, with a special shoutout to Jeopardize for killing it once more, and to the G13 crew.

Review: Standard Procedure is a new crew built from established Drum & Bass artists DJ/Producers Rowney & Propz and MCs Toddlah & TNT, and they've come together to drop this naughty single on G13, a label not exactly known for its calming qualities. Reminiscent of SASASAS, these guys have all jumped on what is a dirty beat for 'Settin It', and you can almost see the shakey videos of excited crowds and crazy lazers just from the first explosive set of bars. It's great to see new crews coming together and it's indicative of how serious the jump-up scene is now - gwarn guys.

Review: G13 are turning ten years old and, like any good anniversary, it's being celebrated with a proper knees-up, hands-in-the-air type compilation of jump-up heavy hitters from a slew of slightly lesser-known artists. This is the second part of that celebration and, following on from an excellent first instalment, the crew are back with even more. Rowney and Filthy Habits make a return, whilst Smoggy and more make a feature as well. Rowney ropes in MC Haribo for a screamer with 'Devastating', Lyfie takes things heavy on 'Mentality' and Slipz drags proceedings into a bouncier place with 'Drop Tight'. All round, an excellent showing from the G13 crew.

Rowney, Cabbie, Ovadose, Filthy Habits and more are on this one, so expect an LP that doesn't mess around in its approach to dancefloor tunage. 'Addicted To The High' by Filthy Habits demonstrates this approach with ease, a set of pitched up synth lines doing all the work - you just sit back and enjoy the ride. Big album.

Review: G13 co-captain Rowney headbutts 2019 in style with this monster four track new year attack. The name of the EP says it all; obscenely proportioned thumpers, all fine tune and riff primed to cause ultimate chaos and mix switch ups. "Heavy Business" smacks with the same fun and heat of a 2003 G Dub or Twisted tune, "Need To" continues the addictive riff buzz with more of a harmonic tone on the bass and a vaporous female vocal wafting away alluring in the mix and "Everything Bless" is a straight up buzzy roller with a classic 98 style bassline that gradually gets rougher and darker as the track develops. Finally we have "Not Happening". The cheekiest track of the set, armed with a bassline that wouldn't have gone amiss on Bingo around 2005, there's some serious mischief at play here. Don't believe a word Rowney says... It definitely IS happening.

Evasive - (4:30) 175 BPM
Review: If the answer is 'a right pair of stinkers', what is the question? You and your mate after a five day sesh? Two sewage operators? Or Jeopardize's latest G13 beasting? We don't need to tell you the answer; technically it's all three, but especially this absolutely gem of a two-tracker. "Killing Plates" grunts and rattles with a sense of hookiness and space that's not dissimilar to a young Clipz 15 years ago while "Evasive" ups the gear and drives us straight into a gully cesspit. Stench bass Qs, grizzly As and happy slapping drums that punch you until the stink wears off. If the answer is 'rewind and play again', what is the next question?

Review: Welcome to the "VIP Lounge", a place where egos are left at the door, manners are a priority and no one, absolutely no one, shows off ostentatious signs of perceived wealth. Filthy Habits don't run VIP lounges, but if they did, that's how they'd be. No ego, no attitude, just everyone skanking the dickens out to riff rifled thumpers such as the mischievous "Abandoned", the high-toned sweet shop style shreds of "Artificial Intelligence", the fluttering laser hook and symphonic shatters of "The Calling" and the bulbous harmonic Q&A of the finale "Eruption" and having just as much of a party as the rest of the club. No nonsense, no BS, just bangers: the way all VIP lounges should be.

Review: Gully genius: Ingenuity returns to G13 with five stinkers of the highest grade order. "On The Bench" barks, bites and barks some more with some devilishly trippy textures and motifs, "Hello" ingratiates itself with a much wobblier, swaggering funk while "You've Been Low" hits with a Supreme Being-style 70-a-day throaty rasp. Deeper into the package we sniff to find a swamp of grizzly bassline bears on "Ommatophobe" before getting all sleazy and sweaty to "Red Light". Naughty.

Review: Often spotted lurking with Filthy Habits, Birmingham badman Jeopadize flies solo for his G13 debut. Two spiked-out grizzlers with laced with twisted bass designs and an unrelenting energy; "Bang Boogie" wriggles with nasty wasp-like laser bass licks and a drop into a vamp-ish rave hook on the breakdown while "Weapon" is much more of a stomper jam thanks to its militant two note shakedown bass riff. Both cuts kill it. Kiss kiss bang boogie...

Review: Let's get cooking... Rowney's back for a bake-off and things are about to get hot. "Hiccups" is a jittering funker with mild use of flutes and two-tone bass textures, "Vibe Selector" adds more punch and swing to the riff with Serum style groove while "Da Wicked Man" rolls with a classic jungle feel. "Gasdup" will be the highlight for many thanks to its Taxman-level burping bass and stern undercurrents of gully funk and the rattling demolition derby style chaos of "Snakez N Fakez" is guaranteed to cause your floor chaos. Grubs up!

Review: Giving us just a month of recovery time from the inaugural chapter, German gully scientist Danee B unleashes the second instalment of his Perfect 10 LP project. Once again, a rich variety and scope is at play throughout; the mid 2000s-era riff and euphoric breakdown of "Tell Me", the junglised skanks and shatters of "Jah Is There", the wobbled-out tones and sub groans of "Mindlock", the Twisted Individual style croaks and jokes on "Battlefield" and the beautiful sun-skanked dubwise finale "Positive Vibes". Ten out of ten.

KO punches come in the form of "Live In Concert" where a laser-like riff is neatly sideswiped by a cool dubbed-out breakdown, the seriously weirded out reverse bass texture on "Clash", the Nicole-powered riot jam "New Life" and the manic, almost psy-like twisted arpeggios and absolutely filthy tearing bassline. 10 thumbs up.

Review: Over the years the Midlands duo, Filthy Habits have built a strong and steady following, predominantly revered for their exciting DJ sets the lads promotions are seeing some love on the floor too and this EP shows why This is some shoe throwing shiz right here. 'Abandoned' is as high octane as they come, packed with jump up signatures it's fast and fun. What more do you want? 'The Calling' is another floor destroyer which slots into the noisy jump up box, with its disgustingly low sub and its dog capturing high hook. It also has so creepy critter like samples that we're more used to hearing in dark dubstep, which brings an interesting twist to the track.

Review: Home is where the heat is: G13 rally up troops old and new for a straight up sesh of UK heaviness. Co-boss Rowney takes the lead with the savage "Still On It", setting the scene for the new breed to smash down. Bou, Leaf & Dutta go all jazzy and harmonic on "Waterfall", Niterider gets all low-swung and switchy with "Fire Emoji", Jammin brings the mystic pressure with "Marijuana", Salvage gets classic with the cymbal-crashing, bass-mashing grunter "Don't Stop" while newblood Tringy finishes on the spooked-out wobbler "Poltergeist". Covering all shades across both sides of the scene he treats us to spiked-out high pitch paranoid riffage on "Safehouse", classic fuzzy bass hookiness on "Fur Dich", weirded-out robot-funk on "Level 1" and ridiculous harmonic switches on "No Laughing". Like we said... There's no room for messing around here. Crucial.

Review: Strictly for the woken: Jaydan's back with some cold hard truth about the world we live in and how violent times call for violent sounds... "Priorities" is all about the broken glass funk, all spiked out and rasping, "It's On Fire" rides on a spooked out loop before switching to major arsonist mode with a Taxman level riff made of pure nasty, "Finish You Quick" ensures everyone in the area dies by laser bass while "Violent Nature" brings us to a fittingly gritty close with sounds so advanced, that we can only assume Jaydan's gone into the future and sampled from a great robot war. Big society bangers.

Review: A veteran of the Cre8 DnB Radio show, G13 label boss Rowney likes to drop messy dancefloor bombs usually with his pal Toddlah in tow, and here's no different. The original "Wavey" dropped last May, now nearly a year later it's back for the rewind in big VIP sty-lee. If you thought that the first version was fierce, then wait til you hear their own VIP rework - where incisive, mangled bass notes stab over cheeky amen breaks, lairy vocals and there's even a blissed out ravey breakdown too. Bonus cut, "Don't' Say It" keeps the aggy vibes going with skippier beats and pitched basslines. Total mayhem!

Review: Murderation: Filthy Habits have been pushing out high grade drum & bass for some years now, but this is a whole new level. Highlights include the way "Artificial Intelligence" subverts everything you know about drops with its rising, paranoid riff; the way "1.17AM" creates the sensation of driving 100mph down the wrong side of the motorway; the way "Retaliation" buzzes and jitters like a digital bees nest on fire and the way that sudden extra jungle fill on "Yeah" well and truly knocks you off your feet each and every time. Powerful, uncompromising and utterly, utterly filthy.

Danee B - "Bad World" - (4:27) 176 BPM
Mela Dee & Niterider - "Me Me's" - (4:25) 175 BPM
Kenji - "Indifferent" - (4:28) 175 BPM
Review: Tokin, smokin trail blazers G13 round up a new crew for a new smoky session. And everyone's wrapping their finest. Label big smokes Rowney & Propz take the lead with the sticky viciousness of "Devils Gate" while Mackey Gee blows back with a smooth retro vapour with "Arcade Machine". Kilos of new talent follow with L-Ectric shaking us out of our skin on the brutal "So Easy", Danee B getting his jazz on with sprightly-but-wonked sounds of "Bad World", Meladee and Niterider slinking out with a warm old school bass tone and Kenji bringing us home with a superb mind-warper that's both deep and hypey at the same time. High grade, as standard.

Alpaca
Alpaca - (3:44) 175 BPM Hot
Nitty Gritty - (4:05) 175 BPM
Review: Finally! It's about time D&B paid respect to high end alpaca carpets and it's down to Sub Killaz to make sure the message is clear: when the bass is this high energy, the drums are this crisp and the groove goes deep into jump up science you have to blot it... Do not rub it. "Nitty Gritty" also comes with its own straight-to-business statement with pranged out filmic strings and a bassline that will melt your face. Following the guys' monthly releases on Liondub, Octave and Subway earlier this year, this is yet another reason the Sub Killaz are top of the US jungle tree right now.

Gunfingers EP
Gunfingers - (4:21) 178 BPM
History Of War - (4:28) 175 BPM
Transmitting - (4:04) 175 BPM Hot
Tell Me - (4:24) 175 BPM
Review: The dark art of gunfingering according to Upgrade: tuck ring and pinky fingers deep into your palm, point middle and index finger, use thumb as trigger, aim skyward then listen to "Gunfingers" and pull the most screwed up face possible as the metal-striking bass riff scuffs your very soul with concentrated adrenalin. Maintain your gunfingered stance throughout the rest of the EP: "History Of War" is as murky and paranoid as the title suggests, "Transmitting" layers octaves with a riff that will shoot through your mind for months to come while "Tell Me" combines classic rave elements with Upgrade signature riff science.

Wavey
Wavey (feat Toddlah) - (4:34) 175 BPM
Real Love (feat Kat W) - (4:35) 175 BPM Hot
Review: With its 'all-out' weekend message in the lyrics and the epically brutal dual basslines, "Wavey" is proof that neither Rowney nor Toddlah are about to settle down and start living the clean wholesome lifestyle anytime soon. "Real Love" will ease you on the way back down to reality with its soul massaging subs and evocative female vocal textures. Two sides of the night covered with consummate skill.

The Trick
Pacso - "The Trick" (Turno remix) - (5:14) 174 BPM Hot
Alpha - "Frozen Black" (Upgrade remix) - (4:24) 175 BPM
Review: G13 rewind to two of their many heavy-hitting highlights and revise with two killer remixes: Pacso's 2011 breakthrough bumper "The Trick" gets a turbo-charged twist from Turno as the original's dense layers are peeled away to make sure the cinematic arpegiated sample and bullish bass hook are brought much closer to the fore. Alpha's 2013 "Frozen Black" is also subverted in style by Upgrade. While the original had a relentless pace to its drums, Upgrade adds more space to the beats to let the newly-tuned bass hook really shine. Two great versions of jump-up contemporisation.

Raise The Levels (feat MC Toddlah) - (4:31) 176 BPM Hot
Get Money - (4:37) 175 BPM
Review: Straight up riff-ravished jump-up: G13 bossmen Rowney & Propz take us back to simpler times with "Raise The Levels" a track that rips up with a Full Cycle style Q&A bass hook so strong you'll be humming it through to next year. "Get Money" takes a more dramatic route with a densely-layered array of bass textures, stampy swinging beats and a powerful Raekwon vocal sample. Get it.

Shoot On Site - (4:24) 178 BPM

Review: There's a serious case of double indemnity at G13 Towers as G4N champ Complex lays down a quartet of killers. Each one strong enough to split a personality, there's a strong message of police corruption on both the cool KRS-One sampling "5-O" and the cop murdering "Shoot On Sight". For less politics and more gully-fix jump on the string-snapping "Hello Ween" and the overwhelming bass shreddage of "Don't Belong". Ouch.

Lethal Weapon/Mad House
Lethal Weapon - (4:28) 175 BPM
Mad House (VIP) - (4:26) 176 BPM Hot
Review: Registered as a lethal weapon in his native Germany, Danee B barges back onto G13 all chopping, kicking, punching and slapping. "Lethal Weapon" sums up his spirit. Scuzzy, gritty and unruly, it's clear he doesn't fight by the rules. "Mad House (VIP)" follows in a similar strong-armed spirit. An update on one of his earliest tracks, here we find him refining the wall of sound for something more stripped back, steppy and just the right amount of funky. It's a knock out.

Can't Tell Me/Mistaken
Can't Tell Me - (4:31) 175 BPM Hot
Mistaken - (4:24) 177 BPM
Review: G13 co-bossman Rowney goes solo for two teeth-snapping stepper jams: "Can't Tell Me" has an almost Knightrider vibe to the bassline while all manner of itchy, scratchy designs and details pepper the spaces in the groove. "Mistaken" goes for a bouncier bass approach where full focus in squared on the dual tones that Q&A against each other against a heavily swung drum arrangement. Ageless jump up with barrels of funk coded deep into every element.

Review: Spark up! G13 hit the road in their luxury freshness wagon with six tracks from some of the jump-up scene's sharpest representers. Label bossmen Rowney & Propz start the engine and set the route planner with a classic rave vocal romp "Gotta Have You" before we take scenic slaps from Konker (the stuttering, smoke-homage "Peer Pressure"), Complex (the swinging, gurgling harmonic bass bumper "Panik People"), Niterider (the MC-led leng-snapper "When Leng Was Draw") Saxxon (rolling V-style timeless vibes with "On Up") and Rawtee (the super-bounce jam "Frogs Legs"). Mission complete... Let's hope the drive home is just as bumpy.

Final Call
Final Call - (4:43) 175 BPM Hot
Wind Up - (4:42) 175 BPM
Review: Rowney, of Cre8 DnB Radio crew fame, has reached the ears of Hype and he likes what he's heard. We don't blame him. "Final Call" is a pure bred upfront instant classic, chock full of pent-up energy and aggression. Moving into cheekier territory, "Wind Up" uses perky melodies to lift up a hard stepping attitude and dancefloor-destroying breakdowns. If this man isn't on your list as one to watch this year, get him added immediately.
