Review: The concepts on Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's ninth studio album Let's Turn It Into Sound have to do with perception, expression and communication. Over three months, the American producer recorded alone in her home studio, pursuing new experiments across her usual toolkit of modular, analogue and vintage synthesizers, in addition to orchestral sounds and vocals. From her contorted takes on pop electronica as heard on tracks like "Have You Felt Lately" or on the deep and off-kilter groove of Is "It Me Or Is It You?" among others, Let's Turn It Into Sound is an impressive display of musical capability throughout.

Review: Lord Raja's sleek, pale-faced techno has always been a favourite of ours, and his exclusive material for Ghostly International has been instrumental in propelling the label forwards over the years. He is, however, an artist who prefers not to release a huge amount of music, and instead sticks to putting out only the best of his material...what he truly believes in. Para is an album of many shapes and sizes, taking on bizarre tribal structures on tunes like "Zerulean", more straight-laced techno in the form of "Sheep", or even gentle waves of deep house through tracks like "Stoked Tourist". If anything, it's a clear example of just how multi-talented and wide-eyed this guy is. Tip - for just about anyone!

Review: Following on from the Par Avion album that surfaced on Ghostly last year, Xeno and Oaklander return to the scene of the crime with more towering pulses of synthesiser tone that peal out a kind of avant garde electro pop without the rhythm section. It's hugely atmospheric stuff that begins in more strung out, experimental territory as the tale unfolds over thirty continuous minutes, coalescing into heart-rending moments before melting away to a more obtuse kind of noise and back again. It's a piece that could have easily been broken down into component tracks, so distinct are the different phases of "Movements", but in the end this immersive start-to-finish listening experience is clearly what the tenacious duo were aiming for.

Review: Jeff Mcllwain's output as Lusine has been almost entirely reserved for Ghostly International label over the last ten years, and it's always guaranteed to be an aural pleasure when a new EP turns up from the shadows. This latest release contains an original cut of "Arterial", a beautifully arranged piece of electronica, and three reinterpretations - Telefon Tel Aviv, Moors and The Sight Below all adding their personalised styles and influences to an already sublime tune but yet one that has the sparseness and momentum to be transformed into something entirely different.

Review: Having launched his career by releasing a trio of albums on the same day back in 2011, Lord Raja (originally just Raja) has been somewhat quiet in recent years. In fact, his only release of note has been a 2013 EP on Ghostly International. Here he returns to Sam Velenti's imprint with a fresh full-length. Constant Moth is a typically otherworldly and out-there concoction, with maudlin textures, ambient sounds and discordant electronics riding IDM-inspired rhythms, bass-heavy glitch-hop breaks and all manner of techno-tinged beat patterns. It's mostly a highly enjoyable listen, with enough ideas and imaginative twists and turns to stand up to repeat plays. Even so, it might take you a while to really get a handle on it.

Review: Following 2012's stellar album In Decay, vintage analogue explorer Com Truise returns to Ghostly with the Wave 1 EP, which sees the US-based producer experiment with a range of tempos to great effect, with New Order and Prince cited as influences. This is most obvious on the Joel Ford-featuring "Declination", which combines '80s electrofunk production with silky vocal delivery, and tracks like "Mind" and "Vallis Called (Control)" where the frenetic rhythms of footwork seem to be an influence. Despite this, the producer's vintage tendencies still loom large - especially on the sublime opener "Wasat", a melancholic slice of emotive techno.
