Too Cold For Love
GLA 005
25 Mar 13
from $1.94
Review: Following a recent single on Deep & Disco, Monsoon Season are back, again with vocalist Miss Bee, on Glam Jam. Back too is their glacial, shimmering Balearic sound, with "Too Cold For Love" being a long and bouncey electro-house roller - a track that Manolo toughens up a little and drenches in beautifully sweet synths. Finally, Satin Jackets slow things right down for a dream-like synth odyssey that makes the listener dream of palm trees and blue skies.
GLA 001
28 May 12
from $1.94
Review: Having popped up on Mullet and House of Disco Records, German nu-disco types Satin Jackets have decided to launch their own label. Naturally, they kick things off with something they've penned themselves, the typically Balearic, synth-heavy "Hollywood". Blessed with a lazy, laidback vocal from Eric Cozier, it sounds a bit like late '80s Pet Shop Boys (think Introspective or Behaviour rather than "It's A Sin") after sharing a fistful of E's and a string of super-strength spliffs with Johnny Marr. Swede Chris Jylkke remixes, emphasizing the Balearic elements on a long, lazy rework that's probably destined to grace a 'Beefa chill out compilation.
Only This Moment
GLA 003
01 Oct 12
from $1.94
Review: The Socialists are a pan-European (and Russian!) electro-pop supergroup and this their first project for Glam Jam. "Only This Moment", as remixed in-house by KLar and PF, is an awesome exercise in Miami Vice-style yacht rock (i.e. the Jan Hammer kind). The shimmering digital production is all about azure skies, pastel suits, stubble and reclining poolside. The addition of truly authentic Michael McDonald-esque vocals, ensures that the listener ahem, keeps forgettin' it's not the 80s anymore. Satin Jackets keep the Balearic vibes on their mix, but add subtle disco claps and percussion for when the sun goes down and sunbathing turns to swaying at the yacht party.
Native Talk EP
GLA 007
24 Mar 14
from $1.94
Review: The ever-prolific Volta Cab is back making his debut here on Glam Jam Artists. In its original form, "Native Talk" is one of this artist's smoothest productions yet: a slow, airy excursion into deep poolside mellowness. However, if you fancy your kicks a little dancier, then re-edit hero jKriv and nu-disco veterans Black Devil Disco Club are on hand to provide Balearic disco funk and slammin', campy retro house versions respectively. Something for everyone on here!
