Review: After some top remixes of Tim Healey and Pablo Decoder amongst others, Sovnger steps up front on the technoid, distortion-fuelled "Breathless". Go 4 Music chief Alex Gopher strips things down with a stunning, Tiga-like mix while Dirty Disco Youth max things with some dirty synths and rubbery arpeggios. Decoder himself produces a storming mix, with the backing mangled up into triplets while the drums punch through hard. This is strong stuff and a debut EP that seriously impresses.
Review: Mixing catchy and original vocals with club-friendly electro is not an easy task but Pablo Decoder and Tim Healy have nailed it on this collaborative single. Their original mix doesn't sacrifice the intensity of a club-banger by trying to fit vocals around it. Instead they cook up a pounding techno-shaped beat, full of buzzing bass and furious drums, and simply let the vocals ride over the top. It's angry, adrenaline-soaked stuff and it's as addictive as it is bruising. The accompanying remixes don't pull any punches either.
Pablo's Rough mix takes a more glitched out approach, juggling a variety of bitcrushed hits nicely over some chunky drums. Sovngaer gives a more uplifting treatment via some Italo-esque bass lines and a simple vocal loop, even breaking down to some swinging pop patterned drums halfway through. Virtually every trick in the book gets used to make it as exciting as possible and it pays off in droves. French house legend Alex Gopher also throws in an uncharacteristically dark and menacing mix that anchors itself around some heavy squelching, but still keeps plenty of bounce to the beats
