Review: Good Street have landed somewhat of a gem with this one as they invite the collaborative forces of Jonny Megabyte and RT1MC inside for a six track bonanza, kicking off with the haunted, unpredictable flavours of the title track 'Rolled Notes & Anecdotes'. Next, 'SmokeOnItMon' sees Megabyte roll out solo for a melancholic piece of harmonic design, with 'Freestyle Heat' seeing the RT1MC returning for more rave-ready vocal work. Next, 'QVC Is My HBO' takes us down a somewhat euphoric road, before 'Hunstanton Warriors' takes us back down a gloomy alley of sound. Finally, Megabyte's solo outro on 'Falling In Love' sees out the project in style, glistening in colourful vibes from start to finish, lovely!

Review: Chicago's EQ WHY is a veritable footwork don in every sense of the word. He has appeared on pretty much any label worth mentioning across the genre, and he's back with the second instalment of New Track City for the ever-impressive Good Street. Not only is the label a powerhouse in the footwork/juke domain, but they also know which artists to recruit in terms of pushing the genre ot its very limits. "Peace Offering" does exactly that, thanks to an off-pace beat and sporadic melodic waves, whereas "S.O.B" gets rid of kick drums altogether, preferring to operate with the help of intricate percussion stutters. "Take A Hit" is a beautifully filtered, almost jazzy wave of snappy beats and 1930's vocals, a blend which has surely never crossed paths until now, and "We Made It" drops some funky-ass bass onto a broken beat pushed forth by evocative rap vocals with a curbside manner. BIG.

Review: Spain (Rootless) meets Denmark (Malou Morkeberg) via UK (Good Street), Rootless and Malou follow up their Iberian Juke collab debut earlier this year. Setting phasers to sunset and vibes to stun, "Let Me Bump" flexes its G muscles over lilting dreaming harps and skippy kicks, "Hear Me" leans back even further with an instrumental jazzy twang while "On My Skin" rubs sonic lotion deep into your soul with classic jungle motifs. Those hungry for a little more ghetto edge should jump straight on Londy's necksnap blends. Bumping.

Review: Austria is not your typical birthing ground for footwork and juke music, but Sun People has dedicated himself to becoming his nation's number one producer in that domain. By the sound of his recent appearances, he's well on his way to achieving this, and this new EP for Good Street is a master in charm. "Paradise Life" is a truly refreshing take on the genre, and the same goes for "There Is Always A Place", and its pseudo jungle approach. "The One For Me" has a relatively straighter percussive flex, but it nonetheless manages to convey the artist's freedom of expression when it comes to making juke music. Recommended.

Review: Cornelius Ferguson, or otherwise known as the mighty Traxman, has a long and respectful history when it comes to that 'ghetto' house sound and the whole footwork-juke continuum. Among other labels, he's been a part of Dance Mania, but has also given the UK's Planet Mu a credible angle into the US scene thanks to two killer albums. This new EP on Good Street is all fun and play, with both "Faces" and "Dusty Loopz" strutting their lively melodies amid fast-paced percussion knots. He appears alongside DJ Phil on the more mystical "Mystery Jazz", and with the infamous DJ Deeon on the classic DM-style ghetto joint "All U Pussy MF". "Long Dik Style" brings things to a close with a broken, shifting rhythm that pushes sampling to its limits.

Review: Welcome to "New Track City". Population: You. Chicago realness pioneer EQ Why delivers his biggest body of work since his 2014 album The Dynamic Time. Injecting a strong sense of tripiness and sci-fi to his juke technique, both "My Brothers Keeper" and "Get High" refuse to play by any rules, creating a woozy sensation that footwork has never witnessed before. "Swingin Wit Dis" sees a more visceral return to his T Why days while "South West" takes even deeper into the dance with pitched rhythmic shots and fantastic bursts of light from a perfectly positioned Isaac Hayes sample. Finally we climax with "Track N Wit Attitude", the most warped, muddy, sense-blurring homage to Public Enemy you've ever heard. EQ Why not?
