Review: Twisted Individual's Grid collective collide for another adventure in neck support as the label's flagship Head Nodders series hits its 15th volume. The results always speak for themselves as dons young and old congregate with some fantastic fodder. Juiceman's 'Brutal Nature' sets the levels before Hexa proceeds to bite our heads off with the savage 'Rezura' remix. Elsewhere Milo goes super aggy and cosmic on 'Go Back', Module goes pure sci-fi on 'Weightless' and C-Du brings the EP to a mystical dreamy close with the trippy 'Planck Energy'. This gets the nod from us!

Review: As always, the Grid Recordings crew have assembled so high intensity heat for our eardrums to all explore here, welcoming the explosive production techniques of MJay inside for a fiery introduction. We open up with the title track 'Checkmate', a reese-driven ride through gnarly percussion and hard hitting sub-notation, followed closely by the first of two collabs between MJay & Dunk entitled 'Electro', a unique yet potent bubbler. The second of those collaborations is named 'Scraps' and focuses strongly on looming sub sweeps and ripping synth lines to match, with 'Inertia' then giving us some haunted synth reverberations and delicate drum designs to close off this EP in style.

Review: One of the hardest working artists from the Brazilian dnb scene DJ Andy has been on pretty much every big label from Ram to Chronic but we believe this is the first time he's ever appeared on Twisted's Grid imprint. Naturally he's doing it in style as we're treated to six of his iciest and most uncompromising cuts imaginable. From the hypnotic, trippy frequencies of 'Bleep' to the utterly immense 'Reach out' which takes soul and hardcore and blends them in a bassline made of hornets, these really are DJ Andy at his hardest and heaviest. Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop from the Grid Recordings team hit the shelves, especially when it's a remix project as jam-packed as this one, sending a number of Jfal originals into the proverbial blender. We open up with Pengo, who steps up to reforge 'Roots' into a shimmering slap of high ended synth and nostalgic horn melodies, followed by J O E delivering a percussively driven pump refit of 'Soundclash'. through gnarly synths and grizzly bass design. Next, the synthesisers run wild as L0G1N delivers a scrumptious rebuild of 'Naughty Naughty', with Jfal himself touching down for his own remix of 'Conflict', giving us a final crash of synth-driven power.

Review: Brazilian DJ Rusty jumps aboard the good ship Grid and gets us all oiled up with his twisted, dark groove science. It's business from the off, too, as he relays his fear of the dark void by way of a savage angular bass riff. Elsewhere cuts like 'Atmosphere' flatten us with pure steamroller energy while cuts like 'Scary' bring a whole new level of tension into the mix. Last but not least is a crucial collaboration with Pain called 'Underpass'. Grottier than a night down Gala Bingo with your nan on White Lightening.

Review: Word on the street is that L0G1N is named this way because he always forgot his passwords and the grotty, filthy basslines he makes are actually just the sound of him swearing because he can't log-in to his old MySpace account any more. We're not sure if this is true or not but we suspect it is because each track has us effing and jeffing all the way to the bank. Highlights include the Zero T style jazzy darkness of 'The Level', the slippery, twisted funk of the title track 'Get Mad' and the wonderfully airy, jazz-influenced drums on 'Duel'. Fingers crossed L0G1N never remembers his mother's maiden name ever again!

Review: Destination Brazil: DJ Rusty crash lands onto Twisted Individual's Grid radar with this six-piece set of grizzlers, groaners and gurglers. Review: It's always a lively affair when the Grid Recordings team are in town, especially with this new pair of remixed weapons, giving two Pengo originals a spicy new lease of life. First, Brighton's own Stillz steps up for a gnarly overhaul of 'Elevate', which through a gritty combination of sizzling synth swipes and syncopated drum stutters, is sure to send the dance into an absolute tizz. From here, Warhead then arrives with a slightly more stripped back creation, unleashing a tidal wave of industrial synthetic switch ups and sub-busting bass action, giving 'Versatile' a completely new direction. Two very cool recreations that are going to cause a serious amount of damage.

Review: Grid Recordings have been on a bit of a roll of late, bringing together vibrant new compilation projects on quite a regular basis with this latest, fifth volume of their 'That's What We Call Bass!' collection sitting as a super potent weapon. We begin with the nauseating LFO punts of 'I Try' from Jenks (UK) & 7Age, giving us a gritty introductory piece, followed by the super bouncy drum techniques of Pa's 'Blood Clart' and the dissonant, metallic bass sweeps of 'Perfection' from Harley D. Next up, Zeba arrives for and old school shack out on 'Trump Bone', a super melodic exploration into synthesis, chased up by Muzo's more subtle synthetic sweep approach on 'Funky Bits' and some temple slapping 808 action on Burntboi's 'Pull It'. Finally, two last gasp heaters, with Jfal & Twisted Individual linking up for the system-busting synth pulses of 'Window Shifter' and then Whisper's swirling finale in 'Don't Be A Fool', one final synth-driven switch up to slap the project closed. Awesome!

Review: The super prolific Damageman returns to Grid with a follow-up to last year's 'Chameleon' EP and this time it's a matter of 'Life Or Death'. Five tracks heavy, it's one of his biggest EPs to date and hits with some brilliantly crisp and heavy mixdowns. Picks of the pack include the simple-but-ridiculously-effective riff magic of 'Combination' (excellent sample use, too) the warm drums and interplay between the bulbous subs and midrange bassline hooks on 'Medical Emergency' and the utterly twisted rasps and belches of 'Death In The Ends'. Massiveness all round - choose life!
