Review: Breaks power-combo Sketchy and Kwerk apply their tightest tricks to this ace trio of tracks. "Everywhere I Go" is a thundering 4/4 bass attack with added Nile Rodgers style guitar splashes, a hooky vocal sample and mass spatterings of lavish funk. "Unplug" follows. A solo jam from Sketchy himself, its two-step rhythm shuffles while the bass flips uncontrollably like a bouncy ball. Kwerk closes the show with "Are You?"; complete with Todd Edwards style cut up vocals, piano teases and a sweet sunshine vibes, it will warm the floors on the chilliest of seasons. Hard werk pays off!
Review: The summer might be a dim and distant memory but that hasn't stopped Ground Level from flying the sunshine flag into the autumn months. Rebel Sketchy launches proceedings with an uptempo jacking breaks joint laced with lavish disco flourishes and the fartiest bassline you'll hear all season. Joe C ups the aggy factor with a snub-nosed acid bassline and tonked up beef beats. DJ Hero completes the set with the most uncompromising blend of the release. Fans of Elite Force or Meat Katie should be all over this; robust, glitchy and unrelenting it's an instant laser-fest with added piano surprises. There ain't no party like a Ground Level party.
