Review: Terror Danjah leads the way as grime specialists: Hardrive return to their release schedule with this insta-classic rally track by the name of 'Overproof'. It's been a little while since a selection of grime's finest teamed up on a shellout and Danjah provides the perfect backing here for the likes of Jammz, Gods Gift, Capo Lee, Trigga, Hitman Hyper and Irah to run riot, providing us with high energy and exciting bar structures. This is one that any grime selecta will want at the front of the bag for the foreseeable future.

Super Set EP
Control Alt Delete (feat Trends) - (3:07) 138 BPM Hot
Nosedive - (4:30) 141 BPM
Shock After (feat DOK) - (3:01) 140 BPM

Played by: Kastle
Review: Danjah Danjah high voltage... Hardrive bossman is back and once again it's pure heat. Building the groove momentum from his "Infrared" EP, it's vibes from the off as he gets straight down to the funk business with a little co-lab hive mind heaviness from friends. "Control Alt Delete" is straight up bruk business with the currently avoidable Trends. Rocking a sparkled swing you could easily imagine in a Silkie set, it's a vibrant side to the grime OG. The same can be said for the soaking wet funk of "Shock After" with long-standing mate DOK. A cheeky reference to the roots with its head stuck right in the future, it's another game-changing slammer from man like Terror. Elsewhere "Nosedrive" takes us back down into the trenches with a swampy, low-swung bubbling bassline while "Patron XO Caf?" puts on the charm and takes us home for the warmest nightcap imaginable. Time to get wavey.

Ragga Muffin Revisit - (4:29) 140 BPM Hot
Review: Stepping away from his Crown Jules for this four track fire stack, grime OG J Beatz lets rip on Terror Danjah's Hardrive. We kick off with "Parallels", a two-steppy jam with all the orchestral saviour fare of a Sticky classic. The drama persists with the fittingly buzzy "Sting" that's charged, once again working with a powerful sense of symphonic pace and rising chords. Elsewhere we're rifled into string submission on "Bruk Out" while "Ragga Muffin Revisit" brings us back down to earth with bubbly dubwise halftime warmth. Superior sounds.

Review: Piff! Piff! Piff! Badman Terror Danjah's up on Hardrive, and he's got a banging new album with him! That's the weekend sorted, then. The Planets is a collection of everything this man does best, from loose, dubbed-out half-step to techy bass house and beyond! The heartical dub swings of "Earth" remind us of early era Skream, while other favourites from this treasure chest of UK duttiness include the bass-heavy, gunshot-leaning vibes of "Jupiter", "Neptune" and its fuzzy, almost hypnotic bundle of power-bass and, of course, the snare-heavy, cut-throat groove by the name of "Planet X". This is Terror Danjah at his very best, all up for the rewinds...

Devils Theme
Devils Theme - (4:51) 140 BPM Hot
Wenty's Riddim - (4:10) 140 BPM
Submarine - (3:58) 140 BPM
Review: Some thought the Devil walked into town to the theme tune of Eastenders. Others believe his theme was more like Nightrider. Turns out we were all wrong and Trends is here to correct us with the official "Devils Theme"; a rolling slab of theatrical gloom all bulbous and funky in the bottom end department. It's backed up by two more blood shedders... The stepper-slapped carnival banger "Wenty's Riddim" and the string-soaked rifle riddim "Submarine". Trust; this one goes deep.

Lyrical Weapon
Lyrical Weapon - (3:18) 93 BPM Hot
Lyrical Weapon (clean edit) - (3:18) 93 BPM
Terror Danjah - "Lyrical Weapon" (instrumental) - (3:18) 93 BPM
Review: Like a round of AK47 bullets and a waft of G13 haze, Terror Danjah steps through the place alongside Irah, and their pair have clearly got one single-minded objective on their agenda: VIBING. "Lyrical Weapon" sees the two artist's pair up on what feels like the right move for the both and, clearly, the perfect calibration of efforts from the Hardrive imprint; the title tune is a twisted barrage of machine-gun percussion, murky bass slewing, and vocal terrorism that really gives Mr Danjah his credentials as a purveyor or hard-ass, twisted beat making. Lucky for you, there's a cleaner edit for radio playback, and an instrumental if you wanna get creative on the decks. POW

Review: You can always rely on Terror Danjah to bring through the freshest freshmen. Like 18-year-old Brummie beatsmith S.P.K right here: tapping into his family's musical heritage (his father is DJ Sparks), S.P.K's presents a range that belies his young age as "Hot Pursuit" layers hooks and counter hooks in a way that charges with momentum yet still feels restrained. "Skeng" follows with a similar dynamic of melodic energy as layers of the riff overlap and overtake with dramatic finesse while "GBH" brings the strings to forefront for the most pure grime beat of the collection. Finally we have "Paranormal Act". The creepiest jam of the pack, this taps into the burgeoning wave sound while retaining key orchestral drive and tension. A highly accomplished debut with a strong promise of future fire.

Pepper Pot (feat Sweetie Irie) - (3:29) 140 BPM
Review: P Jam is not messing around. He never has but even by the ex-Dice man's standards, this is hot. Laying down a springy, angular, cheek-clapping riddim track he invites and all-star cast to voice their own lyrical take. From the dancehall sass of Stush to the iconic sermons of Riko Dan via the utter gutter charm of Sweetie Irie - and many mandem in between - this truly is a once in a lifetime version excursion... Pick a twist or chop them all up in the mix, P Jam has given us pure gold right here.

Tempo Riddim (feat Danny D) - (4:10) 140 BPM
Review: D.O.K returns to Hardrive with a frank statement of today's climate. Efed Up. How do we deal with all the negativity, fearmongering and post truths in the world? Getting down to some of his trademark sharp, spiked-out but insanely funky grime of course. "Efed Up" sits somewhere between UKG and breaks with its far-out springy beats and sensual vocal flurries, "Killa Clart" is all about the sharp string stabs while "Funky" pays homage to UK funky with its swinging beats and tripped out basses. Finally we hit "Tempo Riddim". One for the digi dub heads - expect major bouncing manoeuvres.

Blood Shed EP
Blood Shed - (4:01) 140 BPM
Red Stripe Riddim - (4:09) 93 BPM Hot
Oxygen - (3:56) 93 BPM
Played by: Terror Danjah
Review: First and foremost, Trends should be introduced in relation to his Mean Streets label. He's running a tight operation there and, if you're into your bad-tempered dubstep, it's certainly a label to be tuned into. He makes frequent appearances elsewhere, however, and this new EP for the Hardrive imprint is him all over. "Blood Shed", for instance, is a natural creeper, the sort of big, bad and stomping bass machine-gun with a menacing injection of low hertz; "Red Stripe Riddim" is similarly twisted and cavernous in its approach, but the tempo is much speedier here, and it's as if the entire tune has been given a shot of adrenaline and, well, a few Red Stripes. "Oxygen" takes things down a peg, offering a sleazy, liquid-like bass rhythm that manages to fuse bass, strings and beats together with the upmost ease and flair.

All I Need (feat Dot Rotten - instrumental) - (3:05) 140 BPM
Review: FACT: When Trigga and Dot Rotten come through they set the dance on fire. Terror's pretty lit in the beat department, too; rolling drums, staggered glitches, and freaky twists ensure the instrumental bangs as hard as the premiership MCs. Extinguish the scorching club fire with a deeper, sexier more rap-inspired cut with Rotten taking solo mic duties. Smouldering and sentiment-laden, this covers some serious ground.

Treble Standards EP
Belly - (3:56) 140 BPM
Big Boom - (5:56) 140 BPM Hot
Gutter - (3:15) 140 BPM
Review: Deliciously musical beats courtesy of young firebrand Treble Clef; "Belly" wobbles it girthed gut to a sleazy, slinky, spaced-out west coast groove with all manner of psychedelic weaves and bends in the blend. "Big Boom" taps into a more classical grime sound with its synth-horns providing much of the bass pressure while "Gutter" lives up to its name with its starker, darker edge. Coming on strong like a young Joker but with his own references and sense of funk Treble Clef is making all the right noises with this debut Hardrive EP.

Cherry Bomb - (3:12) 140 BPM Hot
Review: Card carrying Aftershock crew member, D.O.K returns to Terror Danjah's Hardrive imprint with a foursome of one-inch-punches. Maintaining the subtle game theme he established with "Golden Axe" and "Golden Eye", "Grove VIP" ignites with raw 8-bit cascades while synth-horns add a sense of trappy agitation. "Kaboom" compounds the horns with added hype in a way that more than confirms the track title. Seasick bass a-go-go: "Smeg" takes us back around 10 years ago when the relationship between grime and dubstep was a lot closer and twisted. Finally we hit "Cherry Bomb", an eski-referencing slapper, bolstered by an orchestral backdrop and loaded with classic vocal rhythmic samples. Uppercuts!

Review: The often anonymous man behind a hundred dubs and a thousand major hits, Dexplicit returns to his grime roots with two hard-stepping instrumentals. There's a Sticky vibe to "Metroid" thanks to the 8-bit spikes and stripped back funk. "Sour Sop" takes the funk in a different direction with a pimp-tight steel drum sample diced, spliced and used as a rifle-ready rhythm device. Jump on it now and stash it up for carnival season.

Mile Gully - (3:00) 140 BPM
Review: Danjah dusts off the previously dormant Hardrive machine for the first release in several years. Two instrumentals deep, this is how it goes: "Mars" begins with creepy, shoulder-hunching eeriness before getting darker and darker with demonic, processed vocal elements. "Mile Gully", meanwhile, is all about the bassline that rises and stretches and slaps itself raw over a beat that shuffles rather than slices. Heavy.
