Review: Nature-loving techno producer Dominik Eulberg has been relatively quiet in the past few years and now makes a return on Stephan Bodzin's label. "Mimikry" is what fans of the German producer have come to know and love from him; tight, clicky beats and a twitchy rhythm supported by hyperactive percussion provides the backdrop for euphoric intense builds and airy fragile melodies. In contrast "Mimese" is more muted and understated; it is based on a pulsing throbbing bass and loose percussion but it's the melodies sombre and autumnal that give it the edge over "Mimicry" - and suggest that Eulberg has matured as an artist.
Review: French producer DJ Luna Semara is back on Stefan Bodzin's esteemed Herzblut imprint with the impressive Enuma EP following up her last great Pink Room EP for the label previously. The title track is so indicative of the label's sound: dark, moody, driving and hi-tech. With its swirling and hypnotic melody doing most of the great work, this is how you craft dark journey tracks people! Second track "Mustafa" gets a bit more fierce and adrenalised. It too features so captivating melodies and high production values but sure to get the people move more energetically on the dancefloor.
Review: German artist Luna Semara returns to Stephan Bodzin's Herzblut label with an EP named after one of the biggest legends of the silver screen: Yul Brynner. This seething and atmospheric journey works its black magic via mystical pads, ample splashes of white noise reverb and adrenalizing arpeggios: sometimes hypnotic at others truly violent. Second offering "Blackwash" is a more restrained affair by comparison, yet does not let up on the the tension and suspense be assured. This epic dose of dancefloor drama is sure to case a headrush or two, due to its many ebbs and flows -rising strings come back and forth in unison with the sound of crashing waves all beneath its steady sonar pulse
