Review: Dundee, Scotland's Hilltown Disco is backing a good cause here, and presents the ninth edition in their ongoing Angel Series titled Imamiah. It features Alonzo who engineers some dystopian electro beats on "Murmurio", CYRK similarly throwing down some fierce computer funk on "Lost Memories", while Isolated Material veers between the atmospheric and intense on the Drexciyan inspired sounds of "Straight Edge" and finally Rogue Filter goes deep on the sci-fi inspired themes of "They Are Not Men".

Niall Power - "Tape Worm Jim" - (5:32) 134 BPM
Review: Taking the UK's hardcore techno sound by storm is Hilltown Disco, a label and collective outta Dundee pushing the limits of what mutant dance beat can be. For this seventh seal of their Angel series, Asbeel, the most industrial sonics are left to Niall Power and his awesome burner "Tape Worm Jim" (for fans of early Shipwrec). Dope bassline electro comes from Ole Mic Odd's "Waka Jawaka" and L-Pad's "Retrained In Cyberdelics" next to two variations of acid in JLM Werx's explicit "The Acid Bass Machine" and DJ NERDIBOY's deep gothic tip, "Imagination". Independent mutant techno!

Touchdown - (4:34) 134 BPM
Review: Chateau Royal boss PRZ makes his debut on Hilltown Disco with this fine, left of centre release. The title track is a bruising but spooky mixture of ebm and horror disco, while on "Flight Mode" and "CV Ride", he changes direction to deliver warbling, acidic electro tracks, powered by ominous bass and angular rhythms. "Ananas" and the darkly rousing "Touchdown" both see PRZ conjure up a blend of acid weirdness and Legowelt-style electronic disco, Remaining in similar territory, a more abrasive approach is audible on "Laser Quest", where he drops a visceral electro banger that is redolent of Bunker Records output.

NICOL - "Lucid" - (7:42) 147 BPM
Efemme - "In A Pirahna-Filled River" - (7:34) 153 BPM
Review: For the past few years, Hilltown Disco has shone a spotlight on left of centre dance music, - and Zadkiel is the latest instalment on the label to put a focus on electro and beyond. The outer limit can be measured by The Spy's "Blood Trail", the kind of broken down industrial workout that one could imagine Intergalactic Gary spinning. The pounding break beats of NICOL's "Lucid" represent a more dance-floor friendly take on this sound, while Drexciyan influences swim to the surface for the acid-soaked hyper-speed funk of Efemme's "In A Pirahna-Filled River". Not to be outdone by the overall tone is Sarmigetusa with the moody beats of "DOYOUKNOWME" and Lloyd Stellar, who conjures up the bleak horror film soundscape of "Through The Smog".

W1b0 - "No Souls Below The Radar" - (5:37) 140 BPM
Review: The fast-rising electro label drops a fine split release. First up are Robyrt Hecht & Int Main with a brace of underground cuts. "Waste" resounds to a menacing bass, computer game-style tonal shifts and robotic vocals and has echoes of Murder Capital's output. "Today" is based on a similar approach, albeit with glitchy percussion set to the shuffling 808s, while on "Meta-Measure", the pair decide to juxtapose synth squalls with acidic sequences and sharp metallic drums. Storied electro producer Wibo 'W1b0' Lammerts is up next, with the heavy rhythm and building synths of "Small Increments", while on "No Souls Below The Radar", the Dutch artist goes for a swaggering groove that's full of mesmerising synths.
