Review: Next up on Ricardo Garduno's label is MasCon with a killer, crafty techno EP. With releases on respected underground labels like Mord, Konsequent and Snork Enterprises to his credit - as well as Earwiggle under his Dualit guise - it's clear that MasCon is a highly adept producer. "Modal" kick starts the release with powerful chord stabs and pneumatic kicks, before heading down a moodier route on "Senti". Featuring a combination of eerie synth sweeps and acid pulses, it's a heady affair. MasCon ups the intensity levels on the percussive, metallic rhythm of "Ohne Sinn", while the release concludes with the menacing, throbbing groove of "O3I".
Review: Following on from last year's Heart of the Sun release, A4 returns to Ricardo Garduno's label with this tripped out release. Fans of Sleeparchive, Mike Parker and Jeff Mills' Something In The Sky series will find much to love here as the Spanish producer ventures through the outer limits of sci-fi techno. "1.7 Clicks To Station" is a somewhat grungy affair, but on "Adherence", cold bleeps and a linear rhythm prevail. "Bulldozer" sees A4 articulate his love of frequency shifting tones against metallic drums. Meanwhile on "Planet B", he goes deeper with layered textures and blip, bleeps and squelches making for an extra-terrestrial soundtrack.
