Celestial EP
Lampa - "Celestial" - (5:08) 140 BPM
Lampa & Enigma - "The Details" - (5:51) 142 BPM
Lampa & Gnasha - "Highlander" - (5:14) 140 BPM Hot
Lampa - "Matrimony" (B-Say remix) - (4:37) 140 BPM
Review: The discography we are seeing form under the Instigate banner is starting to become quite a goliath looking collection, with this extra drop from Lampa adding fuel to the fire. We begin with the title track 'Celestial', which stands a sizzling creation, driven by glittering high end synth plucks and a lethal reese sound below. From here, 'The Details' sees Enigma join the party for a spooky 140 roller, alongside Gnasha's influence on the eastern inspired melodic twists of 'Highlander'. Finally, B-Say steps forward to have his way with 'Matrimony', giving us a sumptuous sub-pounding rework to round this project off with a bang!

Glitch - (5:08) 140 BPM
Modular - (5:15) 140 BPM
Played by: NAZA
Review: Well this sure is a combo to get excited about as the futuristic production stylings of MungK find a home on the super consistent Instigate Recordings for three weighty new originals. We kick off with the very well named 'Acid' a moog-heavy pulsating thrill ride of synthetic experimentation over swampy, pulsating 140 drum work. From here, 'Glitch' arrives with a fabulous display of floaty pad textures and grizzly 808 bass kicks topped with distant rave chords, followed up by the interesting drum designs and bubbling synth melodies of 'Modular' to round off another impressive body of work from all involved.

Moral Terror - (5:22) 140 BPM Hot

Review: Instigate Recordings have been a pretty killer streak of late, with this latest collaboration project between Ahkur and Tetrad being the latest in a long line of heavyweight releases! We kick off with a dive in Akhur's first contribution in 'Focus93', an eerie, marching system stomper, driven by rawcus bass stabs and electrifying atmospherics. Next, Tetrad arrives with 'Outpost 31', a swampy, sub-heavy surge of energy before Akhur's 'Sours' sends the tracklisting down a much more satanic alley. Finally, the pair combine their skill sets on potent bass plucks of 'Moral Terror' to see out a very solid selection!

Review: The last year has seen a fantastic run of releases make their way out of the Instigate Recordings base camp, a theme that they continue with hre as Barrett lands with four tracks of experimental steppers sauce. We begin our look through this one with the bubbling textures and melodic percussive inputs of 'Syringe', followed by the crunchy processing and spooky string layers. Next, 'MK15' arrives with a phenomenal percussive display, constantly evolving across its twisted sub structures and gorgeous rhythmic composition, leading into 'Bloodclaat' which sees Pharma join the party for a spooky system-ready rolling round off.

Review: We love to see new pieces from the Instigate Team, especially long play projects such as this one. Taking the title 'Temples', this eight track, feature length LP gives us a fascinating look into the minds of it's collaborative creators: Extorted Minds and Catchy92. We are in for a spacey journey, from the calming, pad-heavy layouts of 'Night Skies' to poetic vocal patterns of 'Uncharted'. There is so much depth to this project as you tend to find with any high quality MC/ producer collaboration. The stand out track to us has to be 'Visage', which provides us with catchy stuttered vocal lines blended tidily with spooky eastern harmonies and we can't get enough!

Review: As one of the most consistent duo's of dubstep's 2019, we are thrilled to see Roklem and Sebalo adding another potent package to their year's discography as they here land on Instigate Recordings for four tracks of pure fire. We kick off with lethal, tripletted snare slaps of 'Stressed HDD', before we roll into the collaborations. Firstly 'Shadow Run' arrives with some dungeon-ready percussive slaps, followed by the vibrant sub rolls of 'System'. Finally, we dive down a much more steppers route as 'Attain' finishes us up in style.

Review: We here touch down on Instigate Recordings to investigate the latest selection they have offered up from Tinky, who provides us with three very original steppers creations. We begin our listening party with a peruse into the slightly spooky piano chimes and breathy vocal loops of 'Le Temps Des Choses', before exploring the Asian inspired melodic plucks and grimey bass oscillations of 'The Clan Of Empty Seven'. Finally, we witness some magnificent percussive processing as 'Makabe' pushes this one over the line. Top stuff!

Review: It would appear that we are entering a new golden era for dubstep as we are greeted with yet another week of super high quality releases, Instrigate's latest of which comes to us courtesy of Qant. This four tracker is dripping with organic production energy, kicking off with the mystic melodic structures and skippy kick drum patterns of 'Stage Fright'. We then tap into the subtle high end frequency pushes and unorthodox harmonies of 'Low Tier Spiderman Memes', before landing on the choppy drum crunches of the title track 'Phobos'. Finally, we engage with the spooky and hypnotic bell arpegios of 'Malevolent Chime', rounding this one off nicely.

Review: We are always buzzing to see new music from Pharma, who hear sits down with Instigate Recordings to concoct a very saucy four track selection. We kick off with a look at 'Woodwind', a subtle humming masterpiece, spanning from Asian inspired arpeggiations and delicate drum designs to mystical flute leads. Next, the title track 'Shinto', a spacey adventure into dubstep's more swampy side, before the tight drum sounds of 'Paperboy' wash into the mix. Finally, we see Sedan join the party as the pair pull out their collaborative powers in 'Things', a very eerie journey through plucked instrumentation and subtle sub textures.

Review: We are thrilled to see yet another high quality release come together from the Instigate Recordings crew, who have been consistently delivering bangers as of late. For this project, Gleb Choutov steps up with some dubwise pressure, beginning with the eastern inspired melodic flutters and fiendish bass patterns on 'Dub I'm Bau'. Next, the twisted, evil processing of 'Raubkunst' takes the reigns before 'Sarangi' pushes forward with some heavily syncopated yet minimalist tastings in it's choppy alcazar of a composition. We then finish up in style as 'Auf Der Spur' deploys with some dark, dipping rhythms and hypnotic delays. Saucy stuff!

Review: The team at Instigate have given us a magnificent year so far, filling our shelves with top draw release after top draw release. Here we see them continue in their hot streak as they invite B-Say in for a potent four track collection. The project begins with the silky tones of 'Kashmir', a subtle trappy roller filled with flavour. This is followed by the title track 'The Inbetween', which utilises beefy drums and subs to energise its arrangement. Next up, the haunted percussive expanse of 'Sic' before finishing up on 'Bloodshed', a spicy lo-fi collaboration with Barret.

Review: As ever, the Instigate Recordings collective bring forward a super impressive project as they let the expansive stepper sounds of Onnen run wild on this new four track selection. The title track 'Lost Soul' is a masterpiece, culminating in airy atmospherics and super wavy drum to bass combos, creating a real natural smoothness. Following this we move into 'Cave Of Gold', which continues the luscious free moving synthetic themes, before we land on 'Nightstalker'. This one is the cherry on the cake as smooth sub layers and stunning soundscaping couple up with sharp percussive melodies to great effect. We finish up with Khromi's epic 'Nightstalker' overhaul, applying a skippy 2step vibe to the mix which works wonders!

Intervals - (4:20) 140 BPM
Friction - (4:44) 140 BPM

Review: Allez les subs: rising French deepsmith Ourman makes his debut on Instigate with four smouldering dungeon damagers. "Discrete" sets the tone with its swaggering groove, cavernous dubspace and melting, liquid-like textures. "Wiggle Room" isn't just a cute title... It's actually a snake personified in a sub-stacked 140 roller, twisting and turning with menace. "Intervals" adds a little springy funk to proceedings thanks to a tight weave of shimmering chords and a bounce bass/kick combo forging the path ahead and finally "Friction" burns up the dance with the sludgiest bassline on the EP. Pure swamp business, there's nothing discrete about these sounds at all. Don't sleep.

Review: Badboy-bassboy Opus lands on Instigate Recordings with some seriously fiery waves of post-dubstep-ism that are still very much relevant to the UK scene and, of course, to the mighty hardcore continuum! "Ctrl Yourself" is a vibing bass monster with a broken arrangement and that sinister, street-dwelling sound we love so much, whereas "Switch" bangs its percussion in a magnificently off-kilter manner, and "Voyager" goes for the wobble flex, reminding us of some of Coki's best moments. Review: Straight out of Sheffield, England, Dark Harmonics makes his return to the dubstep world with a top draw four tracker, courtesy of Bristol's own: Instigate Recordings. We kick off with the chilling atmospherics and grinding lead synths of the title track 'Training Day' which swings at will between bassy breakdowns and whirling bridges. Next up we have the uniquely crafted sounds and folding subs of 'Zentinal' followed by the the subtle icey melodics of 'Is This The End'. Finally we round off with this more experimental rhythms and beautiful vocal spacing of 'Shandy Bass' which really adds a whole new dimension to the EP.

Twisted (Koma remix) - (5:06) 140 BPM
Played by: Mentha
Review: As is the case with a majority of artists and record labels based in the creative minefield that is Bristol, Instigate Recordings releases music which is rich in understanding, substance and soul. Since its conception in 2014 the imprints focus has been "heavy basslines and hard hitting beats whilst maintaining emphasis on atmosphere and depth". 'Vanished' has a haunted feel with spooky organs and brew like gurgles, everything is slightly off beat and set at an odd pitch making it a very interesting listen. 'Lithium' is a bouncing stepper and although laced with a subtle dark undercurrent it's collection of high pitch chink and cartoony beats bring a fun flash of light. Like the rest of the EP 'Twisted' is dark and brooding wrapping you in a server sense of unease and paranoia the Koma remix is more robotic and dystopian.

Review: More deep dub science from Mr Saturn as he makes his debut on Instigate with a cheeky bag of "Ritual Grass". Spacious, detailed and restrained yet precision weighted for the deep head floors, both cuts soothe just as much as make you move. "Ritual Grass" sways with a heavy dub techno feel as simple chords flutter and fly between the anchor kicks and FX. "Dawnlight Riddim" reaches with more of a mystic message as smoky atmospheres hang deep over the bubbling beats and woozy horns. Exemplary.

Review: Russian deepsmith Kercha follows up his Into The Wild album on Substruct last year with an equally alluring and mystical long player on Bristol's Instigate. Once again it's a sense-blurring instrumental affair as we glided and flown through creative, soulful and introspective arrangements and creations... Review: A relative youngster on the scene, the energetic Koma marks the tenth release of label Instigate Recordings, and he's armed with four killer tunes that sway between the deep and the utterly nasty. First up, "Promise Me" takes a slow and lamenting turn down the eeriest side of dubstep, but still manages to turn over something that'll certainly appeal to the heads, while "Considering" takes a more traditional approach manifested by some pretty hazardous swarms of low frequencies. "Bruk Up" is our favourite on here, a subtly funky, broken bass groove with Eastern chimes, and "I-N-I" ties things off with something that the likes of Mala would be very keen to play, indeed.

Review: Time for some Taiwanese dub: regular face at Instigate, DTR returns with his debut full lengther and it's nothing short of a contemporary low end odyssey. Bedrocked by rich weight and space, throughout the album he weaves subtle but strong musical elements with a measured sense of detail. Review: Yet another deep dub talent to emerge from New Zealand; Akcept builds up the fire lit by FKOF hype late last year with three more distinctive low-end lickings. "Madman" rolls with a funk that very few deep dub tracks aim for but can't quite achieve. As Akcept proves; it's all in the swing and timing of the percussion. Those after a more immersive wash of sonics should jump on "Transit" while those looking for a stepped out, flute-wooing, time-signature gamechanger jump on "Forgotten". Time to Akcept our fate...

Review: Star-gazing mechanica from up-coming Norwegian outfit Sub Drifter, here lie four smouldering pieces of deep dub machine music. "Be Ready" is all about the industrial strength drum arrangement where the plucked bass hammers in unison with the pneumatic drums. "Epoch" takes a similar approach but squares our focus more on the drums and subs rather than any outwardly unruly bass textures. Deeper again we hit "Zero" where demonic voices pepper the finely tuned snares and glitches before "Unclassified" takes us even deeper into the bass cosmos where eerie designs and atmospheres hit hard like tidal waves. There's no drifting to this.

Drenched in light shades of ambience, spatial dynamics and pristine sonic touches throughout, the rippling keys on "Sorrow" provide pensive suspense, the palpitating heartbeat subs on "Vision" initiate womb-like security, the rolling ricochet rhythm adds weight and momentum on "Oceans" while "Control Me" takes the prize as the deepest cut in the collection allowing an abundance of space for Master Procrastinator's fluid flow. He's up on Instigate Recordings with "Consciousness", a swelling piece of bass barely held together its loose, rolling set of drums. Review: Krimson's Instigate invite Taiwan's DTR into the fray for three future-primed dubstep. Refusing to linger and languish in the dungeon, DTR's depths and deep and cavernous, but there's a real energy to the drums and switches. The big synths on "Heavy Manners", for example, add a real funk edge to an otherwise demonic cut. "Resistance", meanwhile, has drums so bright and bashy you could refuel an entire graveyard shift on it. Finally we hit "Ancestors". The darkest, classically deep dubstep track of the set, here the energy is felt through the well-executed spoken word and trippy washboard snare rolls. Mind your manners.

Review: Authentic dub science abounds as Welsh wunderkind dives deep with a smouldering four-tracker on the burgeoning Instigate imprint. Outer-planetary dynamics are coded intricately into every minute detail; take the shimmering sitars on "Void", the far-away cries and flautist moans of "Element, and the breathtaking pads and fractured amen splutters of "Jaguar". Furthermore there's the careful balance of gritty, rolling dancefloor growls and softer, more meditative flexes on "Ritual". Stunning.
