Review: Following on from his debut album for the label last year, Scott Gilmore returns to International Feel with Another Day. Gilmore states that before recording the songs here, he had never worked on music with the knowledge that it would be released. All of his music thus far was made in a state of solitude, finding his comfort zone there because it is easier to work freely and without any inhibitions. Having recently completed a live tour across Europe, he's back with four more lush and life affirming journeys. From the deep slo-mo disco funk of "Electric Gestures", the oriental cosmic ambient of "Lately" or the spacey psychedelica of the title track - it's all rather splendid really.

Review: International Feel's mini album series seems to explore the space between world beat, balearic and library music. Here, L.A's Pharaohs 'have imagined a place far from the city' on their first release for Mark Barrott's esteemed imprint. Co-founder Sam Cooper has stated that we were influenced by a surfing book by photographer Michael Kew and that a lot of the music was inspired by his travels in the South Pacific and its imagery: an idea of what it would sound like if they were actually there themselves. Cooper met co-founder Ale Cohen in Amoeba Music and the pair started jamming in the late noughties. Diego Herrera (aka Suzanne Kraft) was an original member but now resides in Europe, preventing him from collaborating, moving forward. But still, some of his playing can be heard on the album. Casey Butler aka Stellar Rahim, is the fourth member, who studied composition at CalArts.

The Pathways Of Our Lives
The Pathways Of Our Lives - (7:15) 93 BPM Hot
Music For Santoor, Bansuri, Tanpura Y Sarod - (6:25) 77 BPM
Played by: Private Agenda
Review: International Feel boss Mark Barrott steps away from the the Balearic sounds he has been exploring of late to take a journey back to territory first explored with Bepu N'Gali back in 2012. "The Pathways Of Our Lives" is slo-mo (and very lo-slung!) Afro soul that continues Barrott's fixation with African polyrhythms and 70's style Philly strings. He has worked with a full band: The Grunewald Quartet return to string duties after collaborating on Barrott's Sketches from an Island 2 album last year. Second offering recorded live during one of his spring meditation sessions in Northern Ibiza, with India's Vishnu Quartet performing a 2 hour piece: be prepared for Jon Hassell style Fourth World aesthetics: very nice.

Review: Californian Scott's Gilmore's debut is reminiscent of pre 'Moon Safari' Air according to International Feel, run by electronic music scene veteran Mark Barrott. A wonderful concoction of yard sale instrumentation, Walker Brothers style guitar, offbeat refrains and self made synthesizers. This was created with a truly different sense of perspective, from a musician seeming to exist outside of time and the scene. It's a travelogue of the timeless and gently obscure, a bunch of rarities all in one place, at one time, woven together with an accomplished sense of harmony, counterpoint and vision. A beautiful album from start to finish.

Review: Three years on from his first Talamanca System collaboration with Tuff City Kids duo Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer, Mark Barrott gets the gang back together for an album of typically loved-up excursions. International Feel's eccentric press release describes it as "a sunburned imagination of a day and night spent on Ibiza during a moment in time that probably never was". Given the album's repeated nods to baggy, piano-laden Italian house, the saucer-eyed, sunrise-friendly brilliance of 808 State's "Pacific State", sun-kissed post Italo-disco chuggers, percussion-laden tropical workouts and head-in-the-clouds ambience, it's actually rather an apt description. It's shamelessly Balearic from start to finish, but pulls it off with an authenticity that others could only dream of.

Review: Talamanca System are the unlikely trio of Gerd Janson, Phillip Lauer of Tuff City Kids and International Feel boss Mark Barrott. Their sole release in late 2014 became one of the best selling on the Iabel's imprint. My Past Is Your Future brings them back together for a trio of magical productions that harness the power of their production skills and winks at a forthcoming album coming on the imprint this summer. Its' deep balearica cum ambient house on the wonderfully ethereal "My Past Is Your Future" and in proper ambient style there's a truly wonderful "Beatless Stars In Space" mix which is perfect for drifting. Finally the "Chukka Chukka Dance Mix" has Tuff City Kids written all over this this neon-lit retro house mix which is just totally off the hook in its own right!

Review: Shelter began his production career re-editing quirky cuts of a Balearic persuasion, before dropping a fine collection of original tracks on Uber last autumn. That set of woozy, horizontal gems clearly impressed International Feel boss Mark Barrott, as he's decided to release the French producer's debut album. Zon Zon Zon is arguably a little more varied than some may expect, with Shelter combining his usual new age inspired melodies and tropical flavours with nods to rubbery, post-disco pop, dub, woozy ambient and the kind of fluid, sun-baked electronica that defies easy categorization. However you describe it, Zon Zon Zon is mightily impressive, delivering a near perfect blend of electronic and acoustric instrumentation.

Review: International Feel main man Mark Barrott is back with another great bunch of sublime imaginary soundtracks that are just perfect for drifting. On International Preence, forget the world right now and disappear to a riviera paradise where 'all's good' on "Schopenhaueras Garden","Mokush" the takes you to the East and introduces dome Oriental style melodies and aesthetics with soothing bell tones and gentle rhythm arrangements. Finally Lysaner" is the albums most melancholic moment for sure but undoubtedly bittersweet in all its emotive wonder. A tremendous follow up to last years rather well received Sketches From A Island LP.

Review: Much praise was heaped on the 2015 debut EP from Black Spuma, a "retro Balearic" collaboration between prolific Frankfurt producer Phil Lauer and Slow Motion man Fabrizio Mammarella. Unsurprisingly, Onda is similarly inclined; check, for example, the synthesized marimba melodies, dreamy pads and Sueno Latino-era Italian deep house groove of "Metallo Nero", or the gentle Adriatic breeze that is "Hundred Fingers Man". The superb title track sees them upping the tempo and intensity a little whilst retaining their core values (melody, groove, and eyes-closed vibes), while closer "Gabula" sees them change tack, lacing rubbery TB-303 acid lines over a swinging breakbeat and whizzing electronic effects.

Review: International Feel's recently launched mini album series continues, with long-serving downtempo producer CFCF delivering his vision of a lazy Balearic holiday. Sitting somewhere between Jose Padilla, Joan Bibiloni, and Gigi Masin's collaborations with Templehof, the extended player's eight tracks bristle with authentic live instrumentation, most notably jazzy guitars, soft-focus acoustics, reflective pianos and humid accordions. These are effortlessly blended with subtle electronics to create sun-kissed, early morning mood pieces that undoubtedly define the Balearic, after-hours experience. What's most striking about On Vacation, though, is just how beautiful it is. At times, it's breathtakingly stunning.

Review: It's been a fine year for Mark Barrott's International Feel with the Jose Padilla album an undoubted centrepiece. The Ibiza label aren't quite done for the year however, with Lingua Franca from Len Leise marking the onset of a series of mini-album projects from International Feel aimed around a loose concept for artists to "show more of who they are musically without the constraints of the traditional album format." Few had heard of Leise until he was featured on International Feel last year, but the Australian has gone on to score a rather fine record for the like-minded Aficionado operation as well as contribute to that killer Paradise Goulash mix from Prins Thomas. Some seven tracks deep, Lingua Franca finds Leise crafting "an imaginary journey based on real experiences," with Morocco, Spain, Russia, India and Brazil providing the inspiration for the clearly well-travelled musician. Sumptuous Balearica is of course the order of the day, with the occasional dalliance into something a bit more dancefloor appropriate ("O Caminho"), and ensures Lingua Franca is a fine start for a series that promises contributions from Gatto Fritto, CFCF and Wolf Muller.

Review: International Feel's love-in with Balearic veteran Jose Padilla continues, as So Many Colours album track "Lollipop" gets the remix treatment. Padilla kicks things off by delivering an extended, 12"-friendly version, where sun-kissed pianos, twittering synth-flutes and - of course - hazy guitars wrap themselves around a tactile Balearic disco groove. The accompanying remixes are of an impressively high standard, with Dream 2 Science's drifting, soft touch deep house remake - every bit as luscious, analogue-rich and evocative as his early '90s productions - really impressing. French maverick I:Cube delivers two reworks; a straightforward Remix that adds a little warehouse-friendly bump whilst retaining Padilla's gorgeous melodies, and the looser, baggier "Casiotone Reprise".
