Review: Unusually for a footwork release, the opening track on Jit Down Get Down is deep and soothing rather than hi-pitched and frenetic, and it finds itself adopting a deep house, instrumental hip hop kind of vibe. Meanwhile drums start rattling and chords bounce in "Crush", while the title track slightly references rave with its reverberating stabs and squiggly synths. "Move Left, Move Right" is the EP's highlight with some of the grooviest flutter-drums you'll hear from that side of the Atlantic.

Review: Appearing on his third release for long-running label Juke Trax, Cocky Balboa delivers an EP pitched right between the threadbare juke of contemporaries such as DJ Rashad and harder ghettotech styles. "Bammer Weed" take they typical juke template and throws overdriven 303s and warm pads into the mix, while "Cocky Spitting" throws a screaming lead over scattershot drums. "It Gets Harder" meanwhile is a lighter affair with brittle 808 shares tumbling over sidechained synths, while "Sugar Foot" takes the jazzy approach, with twinkling Rhodes floating over its chopped up vocal. Finally, "Tethys" is a surprisingly melody driven affair, but not lacking in punch.

Review: Jonny Megabyte provides a unique and exciting three-track EP on Juke Trax. "Thank You" gets the party started with a flurry of cheering and some stuttering beats, with an upbeat kick, and continues for its two and a half minute duration with considerable pace and swing. Next is the title track "Old School Down" with its cooing vocal, snapping beats and old skool piano chords, adding another dose of style to the piece. Concluding the EP is "Cocaine" with its chopped up, reverberating vocals and gentle, ticking beats.

Review: Three pivotal figures in the evolution of Chicago juke music and the developing footwerk scene come together on this new EP for Juke Trax - led by DJ Rashad, who drops a pair of new, lightening fast clap 'n' bounce workers. "Nite Love" is cold and bare, with a diced up sample of Robin S' "Show Me Love" at its core, while "GT Music" uses a nice chunk of "Percolator" and throws in some scuzzed-up kicks and short vocal samples into a perfectly-structured and thrilling juke smasher. Elsewhere, Boylan samples Etta James on "Hands" and Lil Wayne on the brilliantly chaotic "Pistol", while all three producers join forces on the subby half-step of "Drinkin'".
