Both serial collaborators, both super prolific, both running heavyweight labels with releases firing off in all directions, both true to the original breakbeat craft, here we find them colliding on 'Welcome To The Jungle'. This is just a teaser: 'Rule The Dance' pays homage to Gorillaz with its infectious hook and dreamy vocals from Christina Nicola. 'Dream Of You' has more of a bubbly Urban Takeover type of vibe with its cheeky horns and funky fills. Review: Jungle Cakes have a knack for signing music that's infectiously danceable but still gritty and tough, a description that applies perfectly to their latest various artists album, which features music from label founders Ed Solo and Deekline, as well as Phibes, Selecta J-Man and others. Gella smashes his remix of 'Blood & Fire' by Niney The Observer, which packs funk and melodic progression into the introduction but takes things darker on the drop, a nice duality than lends an element of creativity to an extremely feel-good number. 'Sittting & Watching' is steppier, more stripped back and orientated for the dancefloor, with a sparse but punchy arrangement that smacks of old-school sounds. The label OGs also team up on their rework of 'Uptown Top Ranking', which is essential summertime vibes for the junglist who loves the way this pair roll out feel good drum & bass beneath lounging vocal notes. Review: Jungle Cakes always tend to put out music that rests on the foundations of UK underground, the cross-over influences of soul, reggae, jungle and D&B. it's always a fresh sound and it always brings up connotations of Boomtown, free parties and sunny afternoons. This is a monster album curated by Aries and Kelvin 373, who have taken tracks both old and new to form a banging compilation. Bou nails it on 'Music Takes Me Higher', a rustic revisit to classic jungle sounds; Aries and Nicky Blackmarket roll things out in a tight way on 'Champion'; and Chimpo slams the brakes on 'DidDieDoThat'. We don't know the answer to that, but we do know this is fat. Big ups.

Review: This album represents a collision of worlds: on the one hand, the fact-paced and furious drum & bass tradition of Jungle Cakes; the other, the seminally classic reggae, dub and ska tones of Trojan Records. These worlds are connected, of course, as the latter was a key part in the evolution of the former, and this album celebrates that connection by giving a fresh, 170 spin on a load of Trojan classics. The Serial Killaz and Deekline remix of 'Reggae From the Ghetto' by John Holt, the recipient of Benny L's infamous 'Police in Helicopter' remix, is a fantastic blend of hard-hitting sub bass and funky reggae sampling, as the pair concoct a superb number with an infectious heart. Ben Snow adds jump up grit to 'Uptown Top Ranking', whilst the Ed Solo remix of '007 (Shanty Town) is another top class highlight. Incredible stuff.

Review: The renowned label boss of Jungle Cakes - Deekline - a man with more releases under his belt than most people, is landing on the imprint with a brand-new album alongside Specimen A. The pair make a potent combo, and their devilish approach to dancefloor-friendly drum & bass makes this album full of jump -up bangers, junglist sounds and even stepping halftime badness. It's a proper rowdy album and 'Middle Finger' is the best example, as a stupidly cool angled bassline flutters into the distance with pitched-up angst and serious underground intent. The big bassline steps of the halftime monster that is 'Kill That Sound' blend the techy with the angry, and the legendary MC Det features on 'This Way'. Get Lucky stretches to a might 18 tracks, and all of them are absolute hoofers. Big, big stuff.

Review: After a slew of 2020 releases on the likes of Zombie, Grid and Informal, D&B's favourite petty pilferer Nick The Lot comes a knocking on Jungle Cakes door with two scrumptious creations. "Concentrated" flips between a sweet soul skank sample and a jigsaw bassline that scratches back and forth over the drums while leaving enough space for the vocal (think "Shot Down" vibes but with NTL's own swaggering signature) "Rastafari" follows the vibe but with much more drain-like bassline. An audacious gurgling, farty sound, it's the sonic equivalent of putting a can on your bike's back wheel and revving around sounding, looking and feeling like a the baddest hells angel there ever was. Feel good flavours as always with the Jungle Cakes bakers.

Review: The bright-light, groovy aesthetic of Jungle Cakes is back, as it so often is, so get out your Red Stripes and don ya wavey garms because the legendary Brian Brainstorm isn't messing around with this display of both the jungle and D&B sounds. Two ragga-infused tunes are here for you, uplifting samples abound and suddenly it's not December - it's June, July and August and the sun is shining. This doesn't stop any of these tracks from coming out in a moody way, though, and it definitely doesn't it stop either the jungle or D&B mix of 'Judgement' from attempting to knock your hat off. This time is well-trodden ground for them, but the shimmering brass notes and funky vocal lines don't sound any less wicked. There's a B-side which takes things a bit heavier on some VIP business, rounding out the single well.

Review: Jungle Cakes emerged as a true player within jungle corners quite a while ago, and their talent for purveying high quality beats is encompassed within their latest offering from Kombat (Uk). He doesn't mess around on this and if you like your music packed with rolling fdrums and basses, this one is for you. 'Tempest Dub' epitomises his approach, with a huge, vibrating bass patch providing the backdrop to what is an absolutely banging cut. 'Brunch' is equally good, and there's even a moment of reprieve in the more liquid introduction that is definitely a highlight of the release.

Review: Jungle Cakes regularly plow through the bangers and Benny Page is a long-time collaborator and friend of the label, as well as being an all-round, infamous badass in the world of jungle and jump-up D&B. His Shimmy EP is three tracks long and infinitely heavy, with a distinct sense of power and progression permeating every corner of this release. The title track is the highlight and exemplifies this perfectly, with a set of stabbing bass notes arranged into a wicked formula of dancefloor pressure. There's also a sick VIP and a final track to look forward to, so check it out.

Two ragga-infused rollers are here for you, uplifting vocals abound courtesy of Sweetie Irie and suddenly it's not September or October - it's June, July and August and the sun is shining. This doesn't stop 'Real Headz' from coming out the blocks in a moody way, though, and neither does it stop 'Pie & Bass' from attempting to knock your hat off. Jungle Cakes always manage to pull out the stops in a way that makes you nervously smile - this one is no different.

Versions galore, we kick off with the digidub dancehall swagger of the original before a crack squad of players all sign up to the bang gang... Label boss Deekline goes all tear-out with a bassline that's not dissimilar D*Minds around 10 years ago, Potential Bad Boy flips it into a purring subby jungle roller while Aries reminds us of his bashy side with a proper tropical shakedown. Finally we body bang all the way to New York state for a springy sci-fi skanker from Liondub and Jah Boogs. Banging.

Review: Party on dudes! Award-winning, turntable-twisting, rump-rousting vibe maestro JFB returns to Jungle Cakes with more of his signature shindig sonics. "Brazil" is straight up samba with big instrumental elements and a warm party feel that's so bright it could lighten the mood in a funeral home. "Active Transmission" takes us to heavier places with an almost Aphrodite feel but with added Troutman style talkbox flurries and a Byrd-esque sense of playfulness. And all the while retaining that intoxicating funk. Transmission over? It is now.

Review: Blimey here's a super-collabo if ever we've seen one! Russian breaks queen Lady Waks teams up with two of the busiest and most prolific bass acts in the game; Deekline and Freestylers. And that's before we even get to the vocal titans causing absolute murderation with the bars. Instantly recognisable, juicy and party-primed, "Junglist Warrior" has every act's signature stamped all over it and will absolutely crush any dance its faced with. So will "Conquered" as it takes us on a slightly deeper flex with some delicious honeyed vocals warming us up for another bumping bassline hook. Heavy.

Review: This fresh single coming from the Jungle Cakes crew has one of the best MC line-ups we've seen in a long time, with Trigga, Boomah, Specimen A and Navigator all coming correct for what is a fresh little roller with an old-school twist. Deekline is on production, and 'Duppy Destroyers' ebbs and flows with a comfortable sense of nonchalance, bassy stabs punctuating its sparse but satisfying percussive line and an overall feeling of ragga influence permeating every second of its playtime. Suitable for carnival season, this one.

Review: Just in case you ever doubted Dance Concept / Souped Up bossman Benny V and main co-conspirator K-Warren's jungle credentials (shame on you if you did) then here's an incredible version session with three massive vocal collaborations over one killer riddim on the seriously on-point Jungle Cakes. The track itself is pure power laced with subversion as we're lured into a false sense of dubby bubblesome funk security before a toxic chainsaw bassline cuts through the mix and most of our senses... But let's be real; this is all about the features as some of the most distinctive voices in the genre join the party. Ragga Twins add their turbo back and forths in the way only they know how. Real talk, real jungle, "Real Junglists".

Review: Get 999 on speed dial; Phibes thumps down at Jungle Cakes HQ, he's happier than an arsonist with a tanker of petrol... And just as hot. "Started This Fire" fuses us the big groaning flavour of the day with a funkier Q&A-style second bassline and a pure backdraft breakdown that will singe every short and curly hair within a five mile radius of the dancefloor. "Turn It Up" is another emergency situation with much more of a heavier jungle / ravey edge thanks to with its breakbeats and a high voltage bassline. Phibesy.

Review: Jungle Cakes are one of those really cool labels that has an endearing amateur vibe that lends so much legitimacy to their music. It's not polished and marketed professionally, but exactly for that reason you know their music will always be straight up vibes. Kombat is carrying that banner now and he's doing so with two roughshod jungle tumblers that pack in old-school and new-school vibes in equal measure. 'Ghost' is our favourite, with haunting synth lines and a pummelling back end that's distorted in all the right places. Top stuff from the Cakes crew.

Review: Last spotted on Jungle Cakes by way of Nicky Blackmarket's mix last year, Barcelona badman Karlixx returns to Deekline & Ed Solo's consistently bumping imprint with two more crisp rump-shakers. "Mad" sees him bringing co pilot Rasmich and vocalist Leroy Onestone into the studio for a vibrant bouncy-bass party viber while "Wicked Babylon" takes a darker turn down skank avenue with an even ruder bassline and a classic conscious vocal sample. South Yard soldiers representing; these are dubwise damagers through and through.

Review: Dr Meaker are a live band slash electronic music outfit who make incredibly unique hybrids of D&B and other genres, notably soul and funk. On this occasion, however, they've taken a distinctly different turn in the direction of the jump-up sound, including a feature with Kings of the Rollers star Voltage, over on Jungle Cakes.'Baddest DJ' is that aforementioned feature and it's a roller of the type you'd expect, with snappy drums underpinning a naughty set of siney wobbles and low-frequency inserts. 'Wisdom & Knowledge' is even further from the beaten Dr Meaker path, a full on jump-up number with pitched up synth lines and grating atmospherics. Top stuff guys.

Review: Barcelonian in Brizzle Dubtime teams up with two distinctive voices for his Jungle Cakes debut. Two originals, one version, it's an instant slap to the sunnyside senses as the both Mad Sam and Rankin Youth lay down hooky harmonic soul over two crisp grooves. "Ghetto Youths" whips up a storm with a high voltage tear out bassline while "Nice" grinds to a funkier arrangement where the bassline bounces and pipes and horns weave into the mix fluidly. Loaded with more of an instrumental twist, nice doesn't even begin to describe this EP...

Review: The renegade don returns... Ray Keith is back on Jungle Cakes with two more slabs of brutal newness. "Killa Sound" is the scud of the release; capable of swiping entire dancefloors off their collective feet, it's a powerful amen serenade with all the sirens and necksnaps your peaktime gully section could ever require (and a little more) "Dub Riddim" takes us much deeper into the heart of the Dread Warrior's psyche with much more a minimal arrangement leaving stacks of space for the humungous subs to rattle you down to the very bones. Killa by name...
