Review: If you're looking for clubby grooves with a sunny disposition, then you've come to the right place, as Barcelona producer Mezcolanza makes use of a variety of influences and directions on Broken Minds. "Stylus" is a rolling club groove, but thanks to subtle filters and a vocal sample lifted from a US house record, it's both distinctive and functional. "New Style" is more laid back, but through the use of some neat stabs, Mezcolanza doesn't lose his sense of groove, while "Relax" opts for a different approach. Based on dense, rolling drums, this will definitely appeal to fans of Cecille, Oslo and Johnny D.
Review: Prolific Spanish DJ Raul Mezcolanza drops Real Time Vol 1 on Lactik Records. The Barcelona boy has dabbled in hard techno, minimal and tech house, and here we see his love for club friendly vocal fare. First up is "Balance", a sun soaked jam that utilises some catchy uptempo percussion, with Raul rearranging the vocal in a playful manner - the result being a crossover tune that will appeal to techno and house jocks alike. Next up is "How I Feel", which sees swirling synths backing a vocal chopped with precision and intricate poise. Some big room fun in the sun here!
Review: Lacktic unleash some deep and moody techno from Dean Amo and Spektor One on their latest release, "Sleep Lost". Amo takes on the first three tracks, delivering some driving techno that comes with quick percussion but still keeps it highly atmospheric. Spektor One takes things a bit wonkier with his brace of tracks, building his tunes around twisted synth structures.
