Review: Greek producer Steve Mill is a veteran of such labels as Global Underground, Mood Music, Balance and Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records. Here though he presents two sizzling cuts through Large Music. "Joyce" is an unashamedly euphoric slice of infectious garage, but it's the serene synth pads and breathy Fairlight riffs of "Vee" that's the greater of the two.

Review: This young Bristolian producer has released previously on Nervous, Beatdown & InnerCity Records but now starts hitting the big time on the legendary Large. "Park Row" is smooth and sexy deep house in the U.S. tradition that ticks all the right boxes. "Roost" or "Too Long" are a lot more upbeat and funky and reference east coast legends such as Kerri Chandler or Karizma accordingly. The latter gets some sexy vocals on for some right hands in the air moments. This guy's one to watch!

Review: Large Music's first EP of 2016 comes from Studioheist, a Manchester-based deep house duo who impressed last year with two excellent singles on I! Records. With its twinkling Rhodes line, chunky beats, dreamy chords and bumpy bassline, "Eden" bounces, rises and falls in all the right places. The accompanying Dub Mix is a little chunkier, with a few more breakdowns with which to tease the dancefloor. The EP's closing track "Chicago Thing", seems tailor-made for Large, fusing as it does the musical flourishes of Ron Tent, the bumpin' grooves of Chez Damier, and the smoky soulfulness of vintage Roy Davis Jr.

Review: This year, Chicago's Large Records will hit 200 releases - a remarkable achievement in anyone's book, and testament to the label's epic, 22-year journey. Here they kick off 2015 by welcoming back Secret Reels regulars Purple Velvet. As you might expect from both label and artist, Marble Zone oozes class, with the title track coming on like the deep house equivalent of dancing barefoot on a rug while someone massages your head with scented oils. There's a chunkier alternative in the shape of the superb Vocal Dub version of the same track - think heavy sub, trippy riffs, bouncing beats and filter-clad pianos - while "Drawn Out" sounds like the sort of winding, sun-kissed gear that should be blasting out of terrace bars and clubs come the summer.
