Review: 21 year old Londoner Casey Spillman is back, this time on Matt Tolfrey's always reliable Leftroom with some sleek tech house grooves. This guy has had previous releases on top labels like Daydream, Blind Vision and 4plae so he definitely knows what he is going - groove wise! His new District Line EP features a tough rolling and right swinging remix of the title track by the always reliable St Petersburg producer Tripmastaz, in addition to the druggy minimal house of "Take Care" (perfect for the after party) or the reduced tribal polyrhythm action of "Pulled Over" which is sure to bang the party as well.
Matt Tolfrey & Maher Daniel - "It Ain't Over Yet" (Gavin Herlihy remix) - (7:50) 123 BPM
Laura Jones - "Intentions" (Tolfrey & Russo remix) - (6:46) 124 BPM
Review: An integral part of the Leftroom crew, Laura Jones's debut mix CD was a dark and druggy yet quietly melodic house mix, and this sampler sees three of the compilation's highlights receive their own release. Ryan Crosson's remix of Gavin Herlihy's "C'mon People" combines a minimal tech-house groove with a rippling disco sensibility, while Herlihy's remix of Tolfrey & Daniel's "It Ain't Over Yet" combines a suspended rhythm with some irresistibly deep analogue bass. Finally, Tolfrey & Russo's mix of Jones' own "Intentions" is a sleazy piece of house that quietly twinkles like a glitterball suspended above the dancefloor, as dubby chords ring out.
